Hi, im new to all that and just a little about me:

Im 17 years old and have got receding hairlines, my right side is much worse. But the thing is that there are very fine baby hairs there so i think thats a positive and means my hair follicles havnt died there. But Im worried beacuse my hair is still falling out. My hair is dry and really heavy, very thin at the roots with a white bit at the roots. Im taking B complex vitamins and biotin daily. I dont want to start rogaine or propecia beacuse of the side effecrs of propecia and the cost and potential loss of hair grown by rogaine if stopped. My crown is thinning but its not noticeable. My scalp is itchy as well. Im in the UK, Manchester. There arent any professional/qualified dermatologists there. My doctor sent me off for a blood test a week and a half ago and hopefully going to phone them up and make an appointment.

Basically, i dont know what to do. Im hoping to start taking saw palmetto and see if it reduced DHT levels.

1) I read that DHT is present in the form of serum on the hair, is this true?
2)what is the best shampoo to remove serum? What
3)Shud i start dutasteride and if i stop will that hair grown fall out beacuse im this young?
4)Has anyone tried Profinast?
5) Does anyone use T gel shampoo? Is it better than nizoral? What does nizoral do?

Thanks everyone for al your help, i know I have many questions but thats cos im really worried as you can imagine at the age of 17!

Its not that complicated. The first question is Do you have any family history of hairloss? if yes then propecia might be a good idea since maintaining is much easier then regrowing hair. Technically you must be 18 to use propecia, but I think atleast 20 or so is best but thats just personal opinion. Rogain would be safer and with both treatments you risk a shed and they must be used forever. The state of male pattern baldness treatments to say it lightly sucks. We certainly are not living in the age of star trek here. Dutasteride you should read about it. Its much more dangerous then propecia, its not approved for hairloss from the FDA, and in my opinion is a very dangerous drug to be taking much more so then propecia but it does work better.
