As per this FDA literature, the Hairmax people would only be allowed to claim their product grows hair if it actually does. The FDA is allowing them to advertise as such because it has scientific backing (albiet not air tight). I think there has been something like 200,000 products that have applied for FDA clearance regarding being allowed to state that they grow hair, and only propecia, rogaine, and the hairmax were allowed. If they rejected 199,997 products it does grant the hairmax a little credibility i think. Also, the similar technology of the full sized dome salon lasers has been used for like 20 years in Europe and has substantial backing.

that is BS, it is not a medical device, a medical drug, a medical treatment, under the cosmetic act, they can say it regrows hair, like skim cream says it reduces "fine lines" "signs of again"

are you that stupid?

oh never mind, you use a glorified laser pointer on your head

you made no points, you claimed that this product has the same FDA backing as Propecia and Rogain, which is FALSE

Bukka I am not saying it works or it doesn't work. However it has been approved by the FDA for hair loss.
Here is a link to an article which states it has FDA approval as a safe laser which was written in 2002:

http://www.regrowth.com/hairloss-remedy ... mb_fda.cfm

This is 2002. As of January 2007 it has gained FDA approval for hair loss (for source see my previous post). I have no idea whether it works or not. Obviously it can't block DHT however it works the same way as Rogaine works by stimulating the follicles.
Watch this video of five men who took various treatments for balding. The laser dude actually had amazing results:
http://www.battleagainstbald.com/battle ... index.html
I saw one of the top dermatologists in England a few months back and she said she uses lasers for a variety of conditions she would not have used a few years back and she is no bullshit artist. I personally can't comment on the progress since I haven't used the dam comb however if someone was thinking of using it I would strongly suggest a dht blocker internal or otherwise additionally.

thanks for showing me where the FDA approved a laser comb for a medical treatment in preventing and reversing hair loss

seriosly, you are swindled if you believe the crafty rhetoric

Do you want me to start QUOTING from the FDA letter on their approval of this class II laser device or can you not read it yourself?

how about we read what the FDA says about what you can say about cosmetics, which this falls under:

Are you stating the follicle five story was an elaborate conspiracy then? The guy who used the laser got significant regrowth; how do you explain that?

i never saw it, it's probably half fakes, or along with other treatments, the pictures on the website are so misleading and wrong i don't know where to begin

lets see what the FDA has to say about its approval of cosmetics:
Does FDA approve cosmetics before they go on the market?

FDA's legal authority over cosmetics is different from other products regulated by the agency, such as drugs, biologics, and medical devices. Cosmetic products and ingredients are not subject to FDA premarket approval authority, with the exception of color additives. However, FDA may pursue enforcement action against violative products, or against firms or individuals who violate the law.

Who is responsible for substantiating the safety of cosmetics?

Cosmetic firms are responsible for substantiating the safety of their products and ingredients before marketing. Failure to adequately substantiate the safety of a cosmetic product or its ingredients prior to marketing causes the product to be misbranded unless the following warning statement appears conspicuously on the principal display panel of the product's label:
you are being swindled

Lol I know my reg sucks. I am only using one out of the big three however I am turning 19 and my hairline has only receeded a bit. When it gets worse I will up my regime and I can assure you I will upgrade it before my hair gets crap. Seriously so many people who are like Norwood 3 come on this website and go: 'so what can I do?' I am Norwood 1.5 (in my opinion) and if my hair loss gets significantly worse (getting towards NW2) I will bite the bullet and get on proper medications.

As for the follicle five story please watch it. It's a video and an unbiased video. Five guys; each one of them on different treatments. It shows them on video a year later and the laser guy had amazing results. I am just stating what I saw. I am not saying I think it good or bad.

Ok well in my opinion the laser guy did well. Also I just looked at your reg. I admit it is better than mine but isn't shampooing twice in the weekend to 'get both in' a bit stupid? And why didn't you give finasteride a full year before going on dutasteride. If finasteride worked for you for a decade say, then you could upgrade to dutasteride then. However if dutasteride one day becomes ineffective for you what will you do then? I hope you realise though that I am on your side. I hate all these idiots like stnl, JonaA?, antonio, mew.

why is shampooing twice stupid? it's even easier now with a head buzzed to stubble cause it takes like one minute for it to absorb in. revita works best when used 5x a week they say, and nano 4 x a week, so i wantedto work both in.

and i didnt give finasteride a full year because dutasteride gave more regrowth on average so i decided to jump on it. it took balls to do that, balls that too many on here don't have, who won't even try finasteride and give it a chance. finasteride is a good drug i just wanted to try dutasteride.

and dutasteride doesn't just become ineffective. it's an incredibly powerful drug. it's not like 5 years from now my hair will all just fall out. not gonna happen. especially not considering all the regrowth i have gotten. that means im a very good responder so i won't have anything to worry about.

ps-saying that my regimen is better than yours is a bit of an understatement. it's like one hundred times better than yours. i could cut out shampoos and it would still be light years better, because i have avodart in mine and all you have is the least useful part of the big 3.

if i were you i wouldn't wait until you get worse to get on finasteride. get on it now and prevent future loss. much easier to maintain than to regrow, etc.

To be honest half of my reg is not even related to hair loss. I drink green tea because I genuinely like it and it is refreshing. I just put it on my reg because it may have a tiny effect. The Larginine is mainly for my exercise reg lol; it stimulates growth hormone. I am already 6"2 but want to give myself best chance of maximum growth by the time im 21. I am not saying your hair will one day fall out I am saying that maybe in fifteen years or something your body will build up a resistance to it or the 0.001% of dht will start to make you lose a tiny tiny bit of density. If this occured on finasteride you could have upgraded to dutasteride.
I know you have balls to jump on dutasteride, you and a few others help me out a lot because of propeciahelp.com I have been slightly put off but when guys on here separate the bullshit it makes my see sense. If you have the energy to shampoo sometimes twice a day why not go on the foam and get even better regrowth? I have heard it dries in 2 minutes and makes the hair look thicker cosmetically anyway.

I plan to add foam in August.

but this line of your post makes ZERO sense:

I am saying that maybe in fifteen years or something your body will build up a resistance to it or the 0.001% of dht will start to make you lose a tiny tiny bit of density. If this occured on finasteride you could have upgraded to dutasteride.

Let me clue you in. This logic about saving dutasteride for when I need it is ridiculous. dutasteride doesn't only work for a certain number of years and neither does finasteride. I gain no benefit from holding off on dutasteride. I keep my hair longer on dutasteride because it inhibits a much higher percentage of 5ar2. For some people the inhibition percentage on finasteride is not enough. But people starting out on dutasteride are not making a mistake because there is nothing else to switch to. You have fundamental misconceptions here.

thanks for explaining that to him...I didn't feel like typing up an explanation to his theory.

It's a fundamental misconception that many people have because they think thebody builds up a tolerance to it. It's not what happens at all. In fact, people who start "losing hair" after say 7 years on finasteride have likely been losing hair from year 1, but it took that long to become noticeable. You know how people say hair loss isn't noticeable until you've lost 50% of the denisty? Same theory here. I bet they would have noticed under a densitometer. That's my theory and I think it's correct.

Had they started on dutasteride at the beginning, they probably wouldn't have lost that hair. I'm not saying that they should have done that but just pointing it out.

85% 5ar2 inhibition that 1 mg finasteride provides is just not enough for some people. Some people need 98.5%. Depends on how aggressive the male pattern baldness is. 98.5% should be enough to take care of even people who were gonna hit NW7 at 30 without drugs. and some people's androgen receptors may be more sensitive to DHT than others, even when talking about different people with male pattern baldness, so yeah, more inhibition helps.

Ok I know you know more than me on these drugs so I am not disagreeing with you. I just don't see the logic by getting on a more powerful drug when finasteride could have done the job for you. I know dutasteride blocks both emzymes (excuse the spelling) but you could have saved yourself more money by staying on finasteride and possibly get the same results as you did with dutasteride. Then as soon as finasteride wore off for you (if it ever did) get on dutasteride. But as I already stated you know more; the reason for my post is just to get a better understanding of where you are coming from I suppose. Anyway I am going to read more posts my antonio and stnl ... sh*t i really should be doing revision.

because as i just said, person, once you notice hair loss, it's been going on for at least a bit of time. and dutasteride , the extra cost over finasteride, is marginal compared to the cost of having to get an hair transplant later on.
