Hair keeps falling!

Hi all.

Been on finasteride/Nizoral for 15 months now and I'm still shedding enourmous amounts of hair all the time!

In the beginning of treatment I was for sure shedding because of treatment - but after 15 months I have my doubts that it's because of treatments, I'm loosing what seems to be 200+ hairs a day (not counting hairs, just an estimate). You would then say it's because the male pattern baldness process is taking it's natural cause - but nevertheless I still have a pretty good head of hair and have only lost a tiny bit of baseline.

My question is: Is it possible for some-one to loose a very high amount of hair every day - but not because of male pattern baldness?

i think so. Some people just are that way. And perhaps because of propecia normally those fallen hairs would have come in weaker and weaker and instead are just coming in the same as they were before (hence maintenance). Goes to show you that shedding means very little.

I'm in the same position, my hairloss rate has not fallen at all. However my hair is looking a lot better. It still freaks me out though.

the best thing to do is just quit counting hairs, it only causes more stress about the whole situation.

Very familiar to me. After 10 months on propciea i am also continuously shedding 150/ 200+ hairs a day, yet i seem to be maintaining on the crown and vertex. Just not sure what to think.

not to sound too pessimistic, but i think it will catch up with you. i was in the same boat as you...took finasteride and nizoral for the past four years (one 6 month break) and have always shed like crazy. up until this past year, i had zero signs of visible hairloss. now i can see that my hair is definitely thinner than it was - although its still not too noticeable to people (or at least they don't tell me). i also keep my hair pretty short, which could explain why i havent noticed a gradual thinning. one thing that disturbs me is that i see a significant number of thin hairs in the sink- whereas before i cant really remember seeing any.

i just added 5% minoxidil about 10 weeks ago, so far i'm still shedding the same, but havent noticed that my hair is any thinner.
