First thing, go out and buy some Revita/Nizoral shampoo and make sure you eat healthily and are fit and nourished. It may help very very slightly and buy you some more time while you read up on Minoxidil and Propecia. - Propecia's for maintaining hair (And some regrowth if you're lucky) but read about the side affects (Which are rare). Minoxidil is for growing hair.

With healthy diet and shampoo alone you'll just continue thinning.

If you feel like you're really thinning, you should lose no more time and get on propecia. As long you still have enough hair on your head, it should be enough.

you can buy thickening shampoos which can work quite well, but they won't prevent hairloss. If you are showing signs of male pattern baldness then the most effective thing to do is start taking propecia, after consulting with your doctor first.

Finasteride works best at preventing further hairloss, although some people do report a little regrowth - but don't count on that.

Minoxidil (regaine) is the only other FDA approved hairloss drug and is supposed to stimulate hair growth, but it has very mixed reports and can be a risk.
