Hair is brittle and breaks off in fragments... normal?

Whenever I apply a topical to my dry hair, I notice that my hair not only falls out whole but many times it breaks off in pieces instead. Now keep in mind I have short hair already, but these hair "fragments" can range from a millimeter to a centimeter. I can see these in the lines on my fingertips. Very strange, right?

Does this symptom hold true for regular male pattern baldness? I've only ever heard of the hair miniaturizing then falling out in a whole strand. Any other medical ailment that could cause this?

Sounds like damaged hair from products.

There are a lot of conditioners out there that rehydrate and or "repair hair"

My hair used to be in bad condition like that until I started taking care of it.

Are you on the nizoral? It really fries the hair bad without conditioner.
