Ok guys so basically my hair has thickened up massively in the past month and a half and my shedding has completely stopped. I'm curious as to why this has happened as I have been on prospecia for over a year now with no results, I was on .5mg EOD for the first 8months and for the past 4-5months I've been on 1mg ED.

I started applying minoxidil 5% to my face for the past 3 months now as I believed my facial hair growth had been stunted (minoxidil has helped facial hair a lot). Could this be the reason my hair has thickened?? But how would my crown have thickened so much when I have been carefully apllying to my face?

Also I am vitamin D difficient and for the past 6 weeks I've been in the hot greece sun relaxing on beaches. Could this have also helped?

I also stopped applying nizoral around a 2months ago as I believed it was of no use (after applying for over a year)

So what has caused my my hair to improve so much I honestly can't pin it on anything. Maybe the propecia has started to kick in as I've been using the recommended dose and also my once hairy legs have thinned out a lot in the past 2months. Or maybe it was somehow the minoxidil? Or the sun... Or stopping nizoral...

To get vitamin D you need to be in sun in early moring as that wavelength is only effective for convertion into vitamin D,i dont think u r going to beach in morning, always dring milk,u need to have calcium more if u are vitamin D deficient.

Uve been on full dose propecia for 5 month why wouldn't your hair thicken up?!

But 0.5mg EOD should of done something no? I was thinking it might of been me applying minoxidil to my face for the past 2-3months that caused it but then the fact that my leg hair has been decreasing lead me to believe that maybe it is the propecia. Surely the full 1mg dose ED wouldn't of made that much of a difference.

Anyway I hope it is the propecia that caused this because I wouldn't want my hair becoming minoxidil dependent

Why would you apply minoxidil to your face you ****ing idiot?

- - - Updated - - -

Ive never heard any thing so dumb ***. You ****ing thick twat!

It's actually a known method of improving facial hair growth and I started applying to my face because after starting propecia my facial hair development halted and I thought f--k going bald and not even being able to grow a beard to compensate for it.

It could be due to minoxidil, even topical use may have effect elsewhere on your body since the half time of the molecule is around 22 hours... remember: the skin is also absorbing molecules from the outside world to cope with dehydration. minoxidil can be present in your blood stream in small quantities.

I was thinking about the systematic absorption thing, however to see such an improvement in a short space of time perplexes me, I hope it's the prophecies kicking in and not the minoxidil.

If anyone is interested in progress pictures you can see them under my other thread on the "My Story" section of the forums.

Thanks guys

Auto-correct is a cruel bastard, innit? Whatever is happening to you, it sounds like good news regardless.

Saw your pictures and that's some quality progress mate - well done for sticking with it despite the doubts!

It's encouraging too as mine's looking similar to your original starting photos - there is hope!

Honestly man the key is just to stick with it, there will be days where you just want to pack it in and shave your head but results take a long time, it took me over a year to see any progress so don't give up!

Good luck
