Hair getting worse :(

Not sure if im experiencing a shed or just more gradual hairloss.

Have been on finasteride since end of January - after 3 months i believe i had a tough shed (When i say shed i mean my hair as a whole seemed worse - thin and difficult to style). That lasted perhaps a month then after this ive been enjoying decent hair for a few months.

The last few weeks however im finding it more and more difficult to "style" / "conceal" my hairloss - i mean, it has to be styled a certain way or it looks gash :( example, i already have to pull frontal hair over in the middle to the sides to make the recission look better than it actually it....however the point is approaching where this is getting harder and harder to do - my hairloss is slowly getting worse i think

Im hoping to ride the wave and that its just another shed like the first time but considering im on the threshold of looking "bald" since im a diffuse i really cant afford these sheds getting worse.

What to do guys? Im using nizoral and finasteride and recently dropped minoxidil. Im worried the latter isnt helping but im not going back on it because of the condition it left my hair in after use.

That said, im considering incorporating Spectral DNC-L into my regime.

What to do guys? Ride the wave or add something? :(

Hate to say I told you so mate but I think this might be dropping the minoxidil catching up with you.. :shakehead:

I think you should give the foam another go, there just isn't a growth stimulant as good as minoxidil IMO.

Its a toughie. I want to get away from minoxidil. I cant crawl back at the first sign of a shed esp as i had one a few months ago when i was on minoxidil anyway.

Its a risk, but i know the hassle of minoxidil alone wasn't bringing me the benefits proportional to its hassle

However, if i do go back to minoxidil itll be in the form of Spectral DNC-L as noted above given this would be bringing various other ingredients so there would be realistic prospects of decent results unlike (imo) with minoxidil alone.

f***!

The result of your hairloss will be the result of you stopping the use of minoxidil. What you thought did not help, actually helped.

I understand applying minoxidil is a pain but it works as a growth stimulator.

Finasteride can actually grow hair back but very slowly. Finasteride is not a very growth stimulator but a brilliant hairloss preventor. Anyway, suggest you to do the following if you can:

(1) shave all your hair [if you can].
(2) leave it and wait
(3) minoxidil 5% - reintroduce it.
(4) last resort - try other growth stimulants.
(5) massage your head.

I cant afford to make any knee-jerk decisions

Sadly, i think ill have to give it another month. If the decline continues beyond another shed then i guess i'll have to think about reintroducing minoxidil. Jumping back on the minoxidil train for the rest of my life isn't something i'd take lightly.

Note im a diffuse thinner so using it is a major inconvenience i certainly dont think minoxidil made any major difference to my hair otherwise i would have kept it on. As i say, Spectral DNC will be tried atleast then ill have the minoxidil aswell as other potentially better ingredients for me too.

TBH the most depressing think of all is....im only 23. So sitting with a diffuse Norwood 2.5/3 isn't really good if im experiencing continued loss. I duno, i just hope the finasteride does some long term miracles otherwise im screwed.

Considering taking ether DNC-L or nanominox

Both have ingredients beyond minoxidil to justify it for myself as i wouldn't go back on the minoxidil just for minoxidil

couldn't it be a shed? I started at the start of feb and I think I'm in a shed at the moment.

thanks mate

tbh im pretty unhappy about my hair at the moment so i've decided to get aggressive with the hope for some regrowth/thickening.

Going to start with nanominox because that replaces the minoxidil that i might have been reliant on but also adds a host of other potent ingredients.

unless the finasteride kicks in in the longer run though, barring exceptional response to the above, i think my fate is pretty inevitable though :(

Question:

If i go back on minoxidil will i "regain" any "loss" from going off it for 2 months. Atleast some of it?

As ive said i feel my hairline has worsened

Update

I know this is strange but for me it happens quite alot

I now feel like my hair hasn't worsened that much at all. The overall condition seems to have returned to its former self over the past few days. I know that sounds weird but my hair condition seems very volatile and when its bad it really highlights my recission/diffuse thinning. I had ran out of nizoral for 2 weeks and have been using it again for the past week, this may have been a factor?

Anyway, ive still ordered nanominox. Might as well get aggressive. Nanominox appears to be extremely "clean" so applying it once a night shouldn't be a big deal (but we'll see...itll be a trial run!)
