Hair Gel - Innocuous Styling Product Or Enemy To Hairpieces?

I use gel.

I sleep with my piece on and wake up w bed head.

By that, I mean my hair is messy. Some of it is also stuck together and matted, albeit not very seriously, from, presumably, the gel in it.

I wet and restyle my hair easily, reactivating the gel already there, but the hair isn't super fresh - it's not like I'd washed and conditioned, then applied the gel.

In a word, is gel ruining my hairpieces?

It isn't good for the hair, that much is for sure. Hair spray is the worst though!

Try using a leave-in conditioner. The one I use almost has the same effect/hold as a gel but it doesn't damage the hair.

They usually contain alcohol. Pastes don't though.
