I started finasteride 1mg 2 weeks ago and I believe I'm beginning to shed more so than usual. My hair is easily coming out when I run my hands through it gently, something that didn't happen before.. is this normal? They don't seem to be miniaturised hairs either. Will these grow back? If someone could give me and insight as I'm pretty worried. Thanks

I've noticed the same during this period, even though I didn't change a thing in regards to the treatments, I'm shedding like crazy and already lost some density. It is possible that this may be a season shed and the hairs will regrow in the spring, it might not have to do with the treatments.

Hard to say, unfortunately, only time will tell. Are you on any kind of treatments ?

I’m in a similar boat. What is ‘alot’? I’ve become obsessed with counting them

Probably around 1-3 each time I run my hand through my hair. Its the ease they are coming out thats worrying... Not looking forward to my shower later

I reckon there was more loss in the shower and now my hair feels different, very dry. Not sure if its its psychological but now my hair density feels as though it's decreased tenfold. I reckon I've lost more than 100 hairs today...

Tried it for a little bit longer than a month, but stopped taking it.

Im shedding around 100 hairs a day now

Would you say any of those hairs grew back after you stopped? I've read you have to ride the storm but its very tough! If I shed like this until the 6 month mark when is the supposedly the minimum time before things start picking up, then I'm going to be bald

Okay thanks. Was the shedding the reason why you stopped? No sides? I don't have any sides so I was hoping I was going to be lucky and miss the shed, too. This is so depressing and I can't help but obses

I didnt have any sides apart of the shedding. Oh and my hair structure totally changed, my hairs just felt really dry. A lot of people saying you should give finasteride a chance for at least 6 month.
I personally couldnt handle the shedding.Drove me kind of crazy and it still does.
I wish you all the best, know how depressing all this sh*t can be.

Yeh my hair definitely is more brittle now, not nice to touch. I probably lost less in the shower today compared to yesterday but still have hair easily falling out. What would you consider a mass shed? 100+? Did you use Nizoral shampoo as well?

@DerDon did your hair quality return to normal when you stopped taking Finasteride? Or does anybody else have any experience of how to deal with the brittleness? Does it sort itself out?

Thanks

Its bullshit, ive gone onto Finasteride in an attempt to maintain what I have but how can I do that when whenever I touch my head, hair falls out and what looks like healthy hair, too! If this keeps up then the only noticeable change I will see at the 6 month mark is considerable hairloss

@Percy88 maybe a little bit, but im not really sure. Hairs are still falling out and I have the feeling it won't stop. Everytime i run my hand through my hair i pull out some hairs. They all look healthy though.
It still drives me crazy that my hairloss is so odd.
When did your shedding start ?
