Hair colour change with rogaine

well i have been using rogain liquid for a little while now. of course, i cannot help but get it in my hair when i apply it, where it dries and gets very crusty and messy. however, i have noticed recently that especially under harsh light, my hair on the crown appears grey and a even bit dusty. it is obviously because of the rogaine, since when i don't apply it, my hair appears normal.

does this happen to anyone else? more importantly, does this happen to anyone using rogaine foam? i am thinking of switching and wondering if it'll fix the problem.
