Hair brush

I know people have tried ad infinitum and brushing the hair/scalp does not help with hair loss or growth directly. However, this is a different subject.

I recently bought a bristle hair brush, not to grow hair but to remove dead material and clear up the openings. I have advanced diffuse thinning and brush my scalp for a few minutes before applying minoxidil and the effect on absorption is unbelievable. I apply liquid 5% which used to take 1-2 hours to absorb (dry up) leaving a whitish residue. Now it absorbs from anything between 5-15 minutes depending on how much I massage the liquid into my scalp when I apply it.

Do you guys think this will be beneficial through the twin effect of increasing the absorption of minoxidil and clearing up the dead matter at the same time? Have anyone any experiences to share in this regard?

Thanks

Hey oye_rg. I brush my hair everyday but in terms of it increasing absorption, I doubt it because the bristles do not penetrate the skin. Overall, it is mildly beneficial since it is improving blood flow and stimulating it, but its nothing that could make or break your hair or halt hairloss.

Oye,

How long did you use minoxidil before you noticed the change in absorption? While the scalp massaging may have helped, in my personal anecdotal experience I used to get white flakes all the time, and then after a few weeks (probably 2-3), it just stopped. And absorbed a lot better.

I don't know if there was something else going on, or if my scalp adjusted to the minoxidil, but just wanted to share. I don't think the brushing hurts, however.

I have been using minoxidil for 8 months. Never had any problems except a white residue it leaves. It still leaves the white residue as before and everything else is the same except that the liquid disappears much much quicker now. When I use the hard bristle brush I am a bit firm so end up having white lines like you get when you scratch your skin.
