Hair Bleaching

I know I've mentioned this before, but no one answered then. I'm thinking about going blonde. I think blonde hair has a young look or something. My only concern is that I will destroy my vellous hairs or cause some kind of damage to my progress. Anyone here hair any experience with this?

Hey bud... ok so i have just highlighted my hair , which i have done over the years since i was about 15! .. in all fairness, it prob does damage the hair coz of the bleach, but my hair looks alot thicker after its been highlighted.

I think i read somewhere that due to the the bleach the hair swells and therefore looks thicker...

So i say " go for it" !

Thanks a lot for the response! For some reason, I think I remember reading somewhere that bleaching damages the hair, but not the follicle, so I think it should be ok in the long run, even if it does kill off those vellous hairs. I wonder if it would actually be good for the follicles. If the hair swells, then maybe the follicle would have to dilate to compensate (assuming you bleach it to the root). I doubt it though.
