It should be noted to lurkers that this happens in less than 7% of Propecia users, and more frequently happens in those who are already somewhat heavyset, though not exclusively.

aRaPoRn - discontinuation of Propecia should take care of the gyno. Gyno is just a response some men have to the increased testosterone levels getting converted to Estrogen and not being handled effectively in the body. Its usually pretty rare, but your testosterone levels and estrogen levels should go down if you discontinue Propecia.

If it was working for you, I encourage you to look into topical DHT inhibitors like Topical Spironolactone Lotion from Dr. Lee on minoxidil.com and Revivogen which contains several potent DHT inhibitors. In conjunction with Nizoral shampoo you could have a decent chance of replicating Propecia without the estrogen issues creeping up. (Note: This is an educated assumption as both Topical spironolactone and Revivogen are unproven products!)

I don't suggest getting your increased chest fat removed surgically. Hop over to the gym and start working out a bit, and give it a few weeks for your body to settle down a bit after stopping Propecia.

Again this is a rather rare occurance, to everyone reading.

In the US, well in NY state. IT cost about 1800 dollars to be awake while they rid the fat an breast tissue out. If you want to be knocked out it cost about 2k more. Im sure prices are different all over.

also could anyone explain to me where it says that discontinuation of propecia should take away gyno? it just says on the info enclosed in the tablets that i should just notify my Doctor. However there is no need to do so as i know what he would say.... docs in the uk have zero time for finasteride!
any replies would be appriciated!!!

Merck says if side effects are reported, discontinue treatment, and reversal is expected. Everyone is different however. Give it some time before you get alarmed.

We can't make any claims about going topical ... because as mentioned there is no clinical data surrounding these alternative treatments for DHT inhibition *on people's heads* ... but we can make an educated guess that if you start right up, you'll have a much better chance of success than if you wait. Success = continued success in your case.
