The guy at balding blog speaks of a mature hairline. I dont mean to talk about this thing again but the most confusing thing about male pattern baldness is no one even agrees about what male pattern baldness is. Is male pattern baldness just losing hair? I have some miniturized hairs is that normal? Its as confusing figuring out if you have very slow mild hairloss as it is what you actually do since nothing really stops male pattern baldness at all.
If when I was 19 I went to get a hair cut and they had to thin it out, and now its not really like that am I going bald? if a relative mentions it does that mean I should start on treatment if so what?

i'm suprised you have 168 posts and don't know the answer to this already. if you have miniturized hairs then yes you are most likely balding. how fast you bald and how much are variables, different for everyone, look at your family history. some people do have "mature hairlines" as in they receed but don't generally receed much...nw2 or nw3 maybe.

male pattern baldness is DHT attacking your hair follicles making them miniturize and eventually not grow at all. a receeding hairline is caused by male pattern baldness.

I'm confused, as well. I don't really have much of a history of male pattern baldness in my family, especially at the age I am at. But I have thinning, hairline recession, and temporal loss. Still, I'm a NW2 and no one else thinks I'm losing my hair.

I want to follow the sage advice of treating my hair loss early, but I don't want to drop a ton of money on treatments if this is just mature recession (I'm 25 and my hairline is about what my dad's is, and he still has all his hair).

My dad has all his hair too, don't be fooled. Doesn't mean a thing.

You never know when its going to stop if at all.

Start treatment when YOU feel like you want to, its a gamble, but at least you will feel that you are doing the right thing.

this is ridiculous. if you are unsure about whether or not you have male pattern baldness or are just devloping a mature hairline, go see Rassman himself or another doctor with a densitometer who can look at your scalp wtih a microscope and see where the miniaturization is occurring. with a mature hairline, you won't see miniaturization past a certain area.

All hairloss is then male pattern baldness. I kinda already knew the answer to that. I guess im still just unsure what to do. Ive tried natural stuff green tea, revivogen, fish oil, borage oil, grape seed, saw palmetto. It all amounted to jack crap. Although I must say saw palmetto did do something im not sure what.
