Growing long hair with finasteride?

I haven't found very much information on this topic, and can't seem to find anything on Google. I have been on finasteride for about 3 months now. I don't see much of a point in keeping my hair unless I can grow long hair, otherwise the benefits are minimal to me. I look essentially no more attractive with short hair vs. shaved/buzzed, but my appearance greatly improves with long hair. It seems no one on the internet has long hair with finasteride. I am not a diffuse thinner but my hairline and crown are slowly eroding.

After a year or more on finasteride, can I expect to be able to grow my hair long as I would have been able to normally, or is the hair not healthy enough even on finasteride/ru to expect a thick head of hair after several inches of growth?

My experience is that it should help. Individual hairs seen to attain greater thickness, which is good for long hair

I just started finasteride and I hear Ya man- but like my Doctor said you gotta wait out the 12 months and see what happens. Everybody's results are different and I've seen some pretty significant regrowth/thickening stories

I have long hair. I had long hair prior to finasteride and still do. I experienced significant thinning between the age of about 25 (maybe earlier) and 27, my hair looked like **** 14 months ago, but within about 4 months it looked decent again. You don't actually need to have a great hairline to look good with long hair, in fact having long hair is a good way to cover up a bad hairline. I'm a solid NW2.5, but as long as I wear my hair down nobody notices. finasteride will thicken your hair, so provided you have somewhat decent coverage you should still be able to pull off long hair with finasteride

Yes it's possible to grow long hair. I had very thin/fine hair which I always kept cropped. After starting finasteride I kept my hair short out of habit. Then a couple of years down the line I just grew it out to see how it would look, and I was pretty amazed at how thick it was. It was like I had stepped back in time to a younger me.

3 months isn't enough to notice, stick with it if you don't get any side effects. A year or two down the line you should see the difference.

Thanks guys. I know 3 months is too early (though my hair has started to shed less and I'm noticing some darkening of bleached hairs on my temples filling in nicely. I feel that finasteride will do the job nicely, and hopefully ru58841 will speed up the process... sigh. I wish I could just be one of those lucky bastards who don't lose their hair...

Speaking of which, has anyone else noticed that short guys around 5'8 or less are more often not balding? Tall guys seem to go bald more often, like some sort of cruel karma or nature's balancing act. Might have something to do with naturally higher DHT spurting growth in adolescence, but hell if I know.

Doubt it short and tall men go bald. God doesnt choose whi becomes bald based on height mate. Its genetics

I'm 5,8" and i got those bad genes. Doesn't matter how tall or short you are really. My maternal grandfather went bald in his early to mid 20s and he's even shorter than me. Height has nothing to do with it.
