Growing back hair

Taking finasteride can cause hair growth on other parts of the body?
Ive been definitely noticing hair on my back, and I dont like it. :nono:

basically finasteride could effect body hair. No one has any idea what it does which is why taking something like propecia is a dumb idea.

You sound like those guys who come ranting because they got side effects from finasteride,how come you have so many posts on this forum?

I think it's more likely caused by minoxidil getting into your system. Or maybe the finasteride isn't effective enough at blocking your DHT, so that you get body hair that you were genetically programmed to get anyway.

I didnt know that...Im also gaining hair on my arm interior,some on my shoulders too...
damn portuguese genes....I think if they get too noticeable Ill have to shave my back and shoulders.
I always thought on men on those places looks a bit repulsive.
Im 18...its genetic for sure.

If you say you are growing more hair right now and you are 18 then its your genes man. I can almost assure you finasteride will not grow more hair on your body because androgen receptors in the body respond to DHT and grow hair while androgen receptors in the scalp make you lose hair in the presence of DHT. I know, its weird but its the way it is. Thats why women have less body hair on avg. than men.

Yes, even though you'd logically think that the product would promote hair growth, it does not. To understand the logic behind it, think of it as it makes your skin more female-ish, if you wish. Females generally have more hair on their head yet less body hair, which is the result you should expect from finasteride.

While finasteride decreases DHT, it increases your testosterone level (22% on scalp using 5mg finasteride), see study: "The importance of dual 5a-reductase inhibition in the treatment of male pattern hair loss: Results of a randomized placebo-controlled study of dutasteride versus finasteride." J Am Acad Dermatol 2006;55: 1024-23.

It is logical to assume it will not only increase your scalp testo level but also your overall level, hence promoting muscle growth.

if it makes you feel any better, my experiences thus far:

i've carried on working out since I've been on finasteride (about 3 months now) and have managed to carry on moving up weights and have put on a couple of lbs of muscle. I've been working out for years too, so it's not like it's beginners gains.

note, i'm not saying "finasteride helped me build muscle"... because it hasn't. The hard work down the gym and the protein and creatine has done that - i'm just saying it doesn't appear to have slowed me down.
