The justification to take the drug is that it is the only FDA approved treatment for Male Pattern Baldness. That is all you need to know.

I spoke with many Physicians about Propecia from the ignorant posts here from people who bad mouthed it. I got no response from anyone in the medical profession about this drug. A 2% incidence rate for a doctor is alomost irrelevant.

So for anyone that is thinking of asking a doctor some of the silly crap that they read on this site think twice. I did and was looked at like a fool, that gentlemen is reality. A good doctor see's hundreds of patients a week, makes $300 an hour and has minimal time for stupidity- just the facts, just the facts.

Actually, minoxidil is FDA approved for Male Pattern Baldness too.

Haha! I couldn't help but laugh when reading this, especially in light of some recent experiences I've had (see below). Doctors are in such a hurry, I don't even think they have time for the facts. All they have time for is quickly dispensing the little bit of knowledge they have and rushing you out of their office with a prescription for a drug they know almost nothing about.

Here's how my visit with my GP went a few months back:

Mr T: So what can you tell me about Propecia?
Doctor: Propesh-what?
Mr T: Er...Propecia. It's a drug. Um...it's the brand name of finasteride.
Doctor: Finasteride? Oh, you mean Proscar.
Mr T: No, I mean Propecia.
Doctor: Well, what do you want Proscar for?
Mr T: I don't want Proscar.
Doctor: Then why did you ask about it?
Mr T: I didn't. I asked about Propecia.
Doctor: Propecia?

So after 5 more minutes of this Abbot and Costello routine, I was convinced that I had just waited 25 dollars on this doctor visit to talk to a guy who knew even less than me about male pattern baldness treatments.

My derm's knowledge wasn't much more impressive. When I asked him about the side effects of Propecia, he said the only potential side effect is loss of libido. When I asked him about gyno and impotence, he said, "Propecia doesn't cause gyno or impotence." After I told him that I read about this online, he said, "I wouldn't trust anything that I read online." I then told him this was directly from the Merck website, which elicited the following response: "Oh. (pause) Then it must be true." Simply wonderful.

So long story short, I've given up on doctors and have decided that I can learn far far more by just doing some online research. I advise everyone else to do the same. Don't rely solely on your doctor's opinion. Doctors have their place (I guess), but you can learn a lot more on your own, with the help of internet sites like this one.

Cheers.

Guys, there is nothing we are gonna do to change these peoples minds, I almost think they want to believe propecia is bad for you, like stinger says they just dont have the balls to try it- This is an oxymoron on there part though because the stuff is proven to be very safe an effective.

People don't want to believe that Propecia is bad for them. People come here to find out IF Propecia is bad for them. What's so wrong with that?

It's more like people are afraid Propecia is bad for them and they want to be convinced that it's not. People come here looking for a justification to take the drug.

Cheers.

Dude, don't take the drug or do. We dont care what you do. The drug works, has some side effects that are known, and some that MAY not be known.

Like all substances we encounter each day. You pay your tab, take your chances.

What else is there to say to you??

Um...you seem to be having an imaginary conversation? I don't remember asking anyone for advice about Propecia (at least not in this thread, although I did ask for advice in another thread I started when I joined a couple days ago), so where in the hell did that come from? Hmmm. Oh well.

One thing I don't understand is why everyone around here is so f*****g jumpy about people asking questions - even when they're not actually asking questions!! What in the hell is the point of a site like this if you're going to jump down other people's throats every time they ask a fraggin question? If you're having good results with your regimen and don't want to help other people out, then why do you even come here? Go out and get a life mate. It's healthier for your hair than sitting on an internet forum and bitching about the people who come here to ask questions.

Anyhow, cheers everyone.

If it seems that some people are "jumpy", I think it has to do with the fact that it has to do with patience fading fast. This site, as well as others have people visiting often and with them come the same questions and the same reluctance to believe the answers.

Why do people insist on playing devils advocate over and over again? Its not our job to play the role of an on call social councilor. If someone has a question, there will always be someone to answer but the rate of guys appraoching this from a pestimistic angle IS getting annoying.

Well, I've only been reading the forums for a few weeks, but who cares if people ask the same questions over and over? If you come here with the intention of just helping yourself, then ignore everyone else who asks questions. If you DO want to help people, then develop some people skills and don't go apeshit every time someone asks a question. I would think that it's the nature of these forums that the same questions are going to be asked again and again. After all, there are new people joining these forums every single day, right? It's like working in a store and getting pissed off every time a new customer walks in and asks about a particular item. If you don't like it, then quit your job and work someplace where you won't have to deal with customers.

I wouldn't know about that mate. Like I said, I've only been here a few weeks. All I know is, I didn't even ask a question, but that Brucelee fellow jumped on my *** anyway. What's his problem?

Cheers.

Sorry, but I dont think your seeing it right. What some people want is for us to read into their future, to see if they will get negative side effects. What some guys want is for us to pull some information out of our butts that doesnt exsist that says, "No you will NEVER get gyno or you will NEVER go temporarily impotent." Well, we CANT do that!

All the info is there. You MIGHT get some undesired side effects BUT chances are you wont. What else are we suppose to say and how many times do we need to say it?

I can't recall seeing any posts like the ones you've described. A lot of you guys here seem more paranoid than a 5 year old boy sleeping between Michael Jackson and a priest.

But if you can see into the future like you claim, could you PM me? I have some questions I'd like you to answer (er...joke!)

Btw, what is that thing in your avatar, mate? It both frightens and intrigues me.

Cheers.

The issue that gets repeated here over and over again around propecia is that the drug either:

Has side effects that the FDA, Merck and all of us are hiding or denying happen or;

You know in 10 yrs or so, your penis will fall off!

So, after about 10,000 posts trying to reason with folks about the risks and rewards of propecia, minoxidil and the like, some us are like, well f*** it, don't take the drug.

So, if I offended you, sorry but some days, this gets very old indeed.

We have people here, newbies who are afraid to take propecia because some fool scared the sh*t out of them by telling them their dick was gonna fall off, thus instead they try and do what is the next best thing and to them that is taking saw palmetto which has no medical backing.

Mr. T you are just like all the other newbians who come here you bash Propecia the only known drug for male pattern baldness, compared to minoxidil its a whole lot better. Bruce is 100% correct have the balls and take the sh*t or bug off.

I waited before I knew what it was and lost valuable time and hair.

Are you referring to that Trilidon guy? Or Hair McNair? I searched through the forums and read some of their posts. That's one of the reasons I'm a bit leery about taking Propecia, I read their accounts and don't want to risk taking a drug that might permanently neuter me. I'm still mulling it over though. I'm looking into alternative options and waiting to get some more feedback from people who have used Propecia and from people who have used topical DHT blockers like Revivogen and Crinagen, etc.

I don't know why so many people on this bloody site have so much trouble with their reading comprehension skills. I'm NOT bashing Propecia. Hell, I might be taking the stuff myself in a few weeks. I'm still in my research phase.

I didn't even ask any questions about Propecia in this thread (I started my own thread when I started posting a few days ago) so why is everyone jumping on me and telling me to f*** off? You buggers are paranoid as all hell. It sounds to me like you're all so damn paranoid you're going to grow tits and your dicks are going to fall off, that you go apeshit anytime someone so much as asks a question about Propecia - which I didn't even do in this thread! Amazing!! Well, I'm not learning jack sh*t about hairloss treatments, but I sure as hell am learning a good deal about human nature, so I thank you for that. It's better than nothing.

Mr. T, I dont know what you are talking about when you say people jump down your throat for asking a question. I have inquired about alot of things on this site and recieved more than helpful answers everytime. Stabber is a walking GNC with no balls to drop a lil finasteride pill. you need to back your fears up with something other than here say.

Um...once again, I DIDN'T ask any questions in this thread. Go back and read the first couple of posts that I wrote, and you'll see that all I did was offer my opinion on the mindset of some of the people who come here all flustered about whether or not to take Propecia. And then Brucelee and Redbone cop an attitude with me, treating me like I'm one of those people that we're talking about and that I should just shut up or take Propecia. I wasn't even bothering anyone with questions about Propecia!

Although Brucelee was gentleman enough to apologize. I appreciate that Brucelee, and I thank you.

Well, so far I've gotten one helpful answer in the thread I started, so thanks to KO for that.

jblig said:

Well, I'm not Stabber, but I don't think it's right to say someone has "no balls" because they don't want to take this drug. I've been reading through the forums, and I notice there were a couple posters here complaining about impotence months after stopping Propecia. If there's any truth to these accounts, then I respect anyone who doesn't want to take Propecia. Who in the hell wants to risk neutering themselves, how ever small the chance? Even if there isn't truth to these accounts, nonetheless, if you don't want to take the drug, who the hell cares? That's their decision. Do all of you people work for Merck or something? Jesus.

Now, I can understand getting pissed off at people who come on here whining and complaining, but I've been on here for about three weeks, and I have yet to see a single post from someone who fits that description, and I challenge any of you to provide me with an example. I think maybe the Propecia has made all of you paranoid (er...that's a JOKE for those of you with poor reading comprehension skills :) ). You lads need some time of from this site. So go grab a beer and chill out.

Cheers.

You didnt ask a question, but you did say that everyone jumps down peoples throats for asking questions. This is not true

Well, judging by this thread and its purpose, it's true whenever someone asks a question that was asked before or whenever someone expresses a concern about Propecia.
