I'm currently 20 years old and although I don't think I'm balding at the minute I am male pattern baldness prone and am getting paranoid about my hairline, I think I'm a Norwood 2 right now but can't afford finasteride atm and recently found this in my house..

Do you think it'll grow my hairline and make me a NW1-NW0??

Pics of my current hair and the product I wanna use:

Sorry brah (mirin username by the way), but the only "active" ingredient in that formula is saw palmetto extract which hasn't even been proven effective in the treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia.

This is the only study I could find done on humans and it wasn't even saw palmetto alone, it was combined with beta-sitosterol:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12006122

The results only stated that the patients were 'improved' and that the study justified larger trials, it's not sound and has zero quantitative evidence backing it. I'd advise against using that snake oil you've got there and save your money and spend it on proven treatments. At the very least add Nizoral 2% and 5% spironolactone topical cream. I understand that you cannot afford finasteride (and since RU58841 isn't cheap either I won't recommend that) but these two treatments are both cheap and at least moderately effective, studies backing them as well as more information can be found in my story thread.

If you're keen on regrowth then you have a chance to regrow some hair if you add 5% minoxidil to your regimen as well. Keep in mind maintenance is the most common outcome, regrowing your NW1 hairline is unlikely and only possible if you have proven treatments in your regimen.

Firstly you're not NW2, it can be hard to tell but you may be diffusing, not sure. I've seen guys still in their late 20's and kept the same hair you have from the same age, the hairline just looks kindof "tough" but it may not be thinning out. There's maybe a gap right into the temple point of your hairline which would be a definite indicator if you were a 16, but at 20 I think you may be OK.

See if a doctor will prescribe stuff for free, I don't even know how it works because I'm too embarrassed to go to a doctor about it (as I know my doctor personally as well) but I think others on here have been prescribed finasteride for free, regaine I'm not so sure.

Oh and by the way I also have Groganics, I like it because it does thicken the hair (only cosmetically, it just gives the illusion of thicker hair), and unlike most reviews I actually quite like the smell too and it's initially strong but dab your hair with a towel and after a few minutes it not noticeable.

But I know it probably doesn't do anything, it's probably more of a placebo than anything- and don't underestimate placebo's, there's been male pattern baldness tests done on people comparing a real product with those taking placebo's, and even though it was a small amount the placebo group always have some who maintain their hair. Could be meaningless though, it's hard to tell over only a year if people keep their hair anyway.

You are a NW1 nowhere near a NW2 yet...you would be better off getting generic finasteride from costco or sams club for like 11 bucks a month...go talk to a dermatologist or hair transplant doctor so they can do an analysis of your hair to see if you're balding...that stuff right there is worthless
