I've been on propecia for 18 months. I'm seeing white, not really gray hair. I'm 26. Is there a link? What can I do to combat this? Anybody else experiencing this?

its simple aging

It may be the case but so is balding and that is combated. Plus, I've read finasteride may lead to premature graying. That is why I'm asking.

There's no such thing as grey hair - it's actually white and appears grey on many people when it's mixed with their natural colour. Very dark haired and red headed people usually go completely white and lose all of their natural colour, and this can look stunning.

This may sound random but i thought i heard of some instances where it was shown to actually reduce the onset grey hair? Maybe i was wrong.

My dad is 60 and his hair still has half its color. He has been in finasteride for probably 5-7 years i think.

I remember reading some study or something someone posted that had to do with why finasteride might change hair pigment for some reason. It is possible but not likely. Just like gyno, I dont think anyone knows why finasteride would cause grey hair but it could.

Yea, I was hoping there would be some people that could shed light on it.

I do remember that study but I can't find it.

one thing is for sure. Science doesnt know enough about male pattern baldness, 5ar enzyme, or the process of greying hair to say for absolute sure that it does nothing to change the rate of hair going grey in all people. It is certainly possible.
