Hello! I've been losing my hair for about two years now, and started with treatment about 18 months back. Today I've gotten ok results everywhere exept for my crown, which stayed pretty much the same. Exept, it's itching like crazy, and I really need some pointers.

The itching started shortly after starting treatment with proscar and minoxidil 5% solution. I've tried lots of different minoxidil varieties, shampoos and other topicals, but exept for some short periods my scalp keeps itching.

It's mostly confined to the places my hair is worst, i.e. the crown, where it's the worst, and the temples and hairline. I'm guessing that it's because of the minoxidil I'm using, since those are the places I apply it.

My current regimen was this:

- Proscar, divided into fifths.
- Regaine foam in the morning
- Spectral DNC in the evening.
- Revita shampoo and conditioner.

I then addes some stuff and mixed my shampoos up. I tried:

- Urea 5% shampoo and tea tree shampoos. Didn't seem to make much of a difference.
- Tricomin in the morning after showering - didn't do jack.
- Folligen for blondes, every 2 days - Works to a certain degree, when applied the itching is reduced, and the next day after it is slightly better than the others.
- Aloe vera gel. Used on the folligen off days, but not consistently. -Only used this for a couple of times now, feels ok but doesn't make a difference the day after.
- I also switched to another minoxidil foam to try and save money, however this stuff smells horrible, feels horrible, and seems to have made the itching worse.

Right now I've missed 2 allications of minoxidil to see if it makes a difference. The itching in my temples is pretty much gone, my crown is better, but not itch-free.

Right now I've just received the regaine foam and spectral.mx5 minoxidil with less alcohol, no idea if it's got less ppg though. In the mornings I've got pretty much no alternative to the foam because it simply dries the fastest and looks the best, but I'm willing to try any other minoxidil variant to make this go away.

So finally my question: What shampoo/conditionier, topical or minoxidil brand can I try to make this go away? Thanks in advance!

My Doctor recommended two shampoos for my itch and flakes: Ducray Kelual DS and Elusion. It helped me with dandruff and also the itch was better. You can alternate them. Hope this helps.

You're facing the EXACT same issue I have. What you need is far less products, not more.

For now dump this

- Spectral DNC in the evening.
- Revita shampoo and conditioner.

and add this into the evenings
- Regaine foam in the morning

Get back to using to using that tea tree shampoo/conditioner daily.

Some people, like me, simply cannot use a lot of products. Maybe your scalp can only use minoxidil once a day. Thats ok.

I've started figuring this out as well. After experimenting a bit it seems that the spectral dnc as well as the conditioner both make it slightly worse. Right now I'm using the foam 2x a day and it feels much better, I've also started using revivogen shampoo and it seems to be helping too.
Right now my itch is still there, but generally better. I'm hesitant to stop the 2x a day minoxidil though.

I'm happy to report that for now the itch is completely gone.

My current regime:

-1g finasteride daily
- regaine foam in the morning
- spectral mx5 low alcohol solution in the evening
-folligain + emu oil every 2 nights

- rotation of Nizoral, revivogen and tee trea shampoo, each combined with a generous amount of pure aloe vera gel.

And the thing that I'm 100% sure helped the most:
-Apple Cider Vinegar rinse (one half ACV, one half water, once a week.
The reason why I'm very certain that this helps the most is that after using it for the first time, the itching felt the best than it did in the last 18 months of treatment. It's a popular home remedy against itching and dandruff, and was recommended to me by a friend of my mothers who suffered from dandruff and irritated scalp for a long time.

I absolutely reccomend that everybody at least gives it a try, after using it for the first time my scalp was much better, and my hair actually looked really, REALLY good. A friend of mine I see a couple of times a week immediately commented on my hair when he saw me that morning. "Hey, you've grown quite the mop of hair, haven't you!" That felt really good :)

Same thing goes for the aloe vera gel, it makes my scalp and hair look and feel very good, and I got it for very cheap at a local supermarket.

As far as general effects on my hair loss goes, I have never lost less hair than after I started with this. It's still too early to say for sure, but I am quite certain that my hair is really doing a good job recovering right now. My girlfriend, who knows about my hair woes commented on my temples yesterday. She said "Hey, your widows peak is almost gone!" She checked on my temples every once in a while, and I believe her when she says that they're noticably better.

Well that was quite a lot of text, but I'm very happy with my progress right now, and I hope my experience helps some people on this board, since it helped me a lot myself.
