Hello! I've been losing my hair for about two years now, and started with treatment about 18 months back. Today I've gotten ok results everywhere exept for my crown, which stayed pretty much the same. Exept, it's itching like crazy, and I really need some pointers.
The itching started shortly after starting treatment with proscar and minoxidil 5% solution. I've tried lots of different minoxidil varieties, shampoos and other topicals, but exept for some short periods my scalp keeps itching.
It's mostly confined to the places my hair is worst, i.e. the crown, where it's the worst, and the temples and hairline. I'm guessing that it's because of the minoxidil I'm using, since those are the places I apply it.
My current regimen was this:
- Proscar, divided into fifths.
- Regaine foam in the morning
- Spectral DNC in the evening.
- Revita shampoo and conditioner.
I then addes some stuff and mixed my shampoos up. I tried:
- Urea 5% shampoo and tea tree shampoos. Didn't seem to make much of a difference.
- Tricomin in the morning after showering - didn't do jack.
- Folligen for blondes, every 2 days - Works to a certain degree, when applied the itching is reduced, and the next day after it is slightly better than the others.
- Aloe vera gel. Used on the folligen off days, but not consistently. -Only used this for a couple of times now, feels ok but doesn't make a difference the day after.
- I also switched to another minoxidil foam to try and save money, however this stuff smells horrible, feels horrible, and seems to have made the itching worse.
Right now I've missed 2 allications of minoxidil to see if it makes a difference. The itching in my temples is pretty much gone, my crown is better, but not itch-free.
Right now I've just received the regaine foam and spectral.mx5 minoxidil with less alcohol, no idea if it's got less ppg though. In the mornings I've got pretty much no alternative to the foam because it simply dries the fastest and looks the best, but I'm willing to try any other minoxidil variant to make this go away.
So finally my question: What shampoo/conditionier, topical or minoxidil brand can I try to make this go away? Thanks in advance!
