Got a couple questions :)

Hey everyone! Just back here to ask a few questions that pondered on my mind as I laid in bed.

Firstly, how does minoxidil soak under the skin, or more specifically Rogaine Foam? Like for example, if I place a blob of foam on my crown the size of 10p (or a dime for you americans), will that minoxidil only affect the hairs in that 10p size area or will it expand to affect a larger area of hair when it soaks into the skin?

Secondly, how many cycles does it usually take for hair to return to full thickness (if it does) and how long is each cycle. I've been using foam on my hairline for 2 and a half months and it's looking so much better (as in i've actually got a hairLINE again) but when I feel the new hairs with my finger they feel smaller in diameter to my other hairs so I'm assuming they're at the first 'cycle'. Some are vellous obviously but alot are like proper hairs just lacking thickness...

Thirdly, does anyone know the average time before regrowth can be seen off finasteride, if any regrowth is to happen?

Lastly, are there any studies showing the effects of Nizoral 2% alone on hair regrowth. I've head it can act like 2% minoxidil regrowth wise.

Edit; Ah one LAST question!! What Norwood number would you guys assign to my hair loss. I'm thinking this would be a NW1.5-Diffuse? But from what I've read here everyone has completely different opinions on this!! As you can see there is a fair degree of 'patchiness' on my scalp.
God bless the buzz cut! =P

Cheers fellas

Please, be patient. Someone will talk.

From my part, unfortunately, I can say nothing about what you ask. In my time, when I needed such medication, it simply did not exist. So I have zero experience on this.

You, the younger ones, should be thankful that you have at least the means to seriously slow down hairloss today. Again about your questions, if someone knows something he will show up, I believe.

I think ur hair looks fine buzzed up. I have been losing hair for almost 2 years now and it drives me crazy, no bullshit. I hate seeing the hair fall out. I would buzz mine down but I have a 9inch scar on the front of my head. It runs right down the center of my head. Looks funny as sh*t when its wet. Im 36 btw. My eyebrows fall out everyday also. I have lost at least 70% of my eyebrow hair, diffuse. Went to another derm yesterday and they dont know sh*t. Anyway if I was u I would not worry about it. U look good like u r. Lift some more weights gains some weight. I think the shaved head looks better on a bigger guy. In fact since ur already losing hair, do some research and take a small cycle of test. I dont condone steroid use but if done properly and in the right doses I do not think it is harmful as people say. My best friend is a Doctor at an hrt clinic. I have never done steroids but if my hair keeps falling out Im just going to go for it. Im sure people will disagree with my comments.

1. there is a certain amount of diffusion in the scalp, but I don't really know how much. Dr. Lee wrote once that parting your hair in seven places, and applying rogaine at each place would essentially cover the whole scalp.
If you're worried about not getting enough area covered, just use a little bit more foam, it doesn't have to be EXACTLY 1 ml.

2. I have NO idea, but I'm guessing results are pretty individual on that one.

3. finasteride works great, but slowly. Regrowth may be speeded up, and enhanced with rogaine. I can only speak for myself, but for me regrowth wasn't seen until maybe 9-10 months in. (shedding stopped 3 months in, thickening at 6)
Studies have shown that finasteride peaks at about 2 years. Maybe that's how long it takes for a damaged follicle to completely repair?)

@Vox Haha, I'm usually patient my man however on this board there's quite a few very well educated people on these topics and they post reguarly and I guess I was expecting too quick of a reply! I know we all have lives and can't be checking this board everyday :)

@budwardo Hey man, thanks for the compliment. That sounds pretty bad but atleast because you're 36 I'm sure the majority of fella's have less hair than you! Also, I don't know if it's of any significance but my dad is 50 and he's been balding for the past 10 or so years from my memory, and his eyebrows have also been falling out, to the point where he's hardly got any left! Strange.

Also, I used to box at lightweight about 4 years ago, so I've always maintained a slim physique on purpose. However, for the last 3 months I've been hitting the gym on a bulking mission. I've already gained about 3-4 kg since then so it's going ok :). My friend does steroids but to be honest I don't know about that yet, I'm pretty strict with my diet (3500+ calories a day with a 40/40/20 balance between carbs/proteins and fats) and I know my way around a gym since I was flippin' 16 so I'll see how it goes. I'm more worried about steroids effects on accelerated hairloss to be honest!

@Todd Ah thank you! If there's some diffuse then I can assume I've covering most of my scalp :) Ah, I'm just at the 6-7 month mark now and I must say I can't tell too well how much progress has been made if any but DEFINATELY maintained and the hairline has improved (down to minoxidil or finasteride I shall not know!). I took some new pictures today so I'll compare again in 3 months time. Do you experience any consistent sides from when you first started? I'm still experiencing an INCREASED libido (yes it's brilliant) and watery semen, was hoping the watery semen issue would f*** off by now though!!

Cheers fellas. If anyone else can add to the advice it would be appreciated :)
