Going to go to 2mg of finasteride a day

I have tolerated 1mg very well, for about 9 months, with good results and no sides.

I had dabbled in lower doses at one point, but I am going to try 2mgs a day for a while (3 months) to see if it makes a difference, meaning, if it vastly improves growth.

I will keep you posted. My experience with finasteride at this point tells me that I probably could take 5mg with no side-effects.

Myabe it's just because I do experience neg sides on finasteride - but I'd recommend against doubling the "prescribed" 1 mg daily dosage.

More is not always better.

If you're experiencing good results now - why mess with it?

Actually tests showed that people saw the same results weather they took 1mg or 5 mg a day, I think you would just be wasting pills by doubling your dosage.

After a year of Propecia I started taking 1mg in the morning and 1 mg at night for 3 months. It didn't have any more of an effect than the 1mg. Let us know what happens.

Finasteride is dose dependant, the more finasteride you take the lower the plasma level of dihyrotetosterone, people often say finasteride has a flat response curve, but this is simply not true.

If this were true BPH patients would be prescribed a 1mg dose and not a 5mg dose.

Proscar (5mg finasteride) is prescribed to treat BPH.

I think the 1mg was used as the best dose to pull in the maximum amount of people who would have a benefit of finasteride, without the extreme side-effects. Isn't it all a matter of standard deviations? The 1mg dose maximized the benefits while minimixing the sides.

Many men will not see as much of an improvement on 1mg, some men could see an improvement on .25mg. If 1mg is not effecting me negatively and giving me decent (but not outstanding) results, why should I NOT try 2mgs per day?

My results have been good, don't get me wrong. But given how cheap generic proscar is, why not consider 2mg or even 2.5mg a day?

People have taken 5mg for years, and doses higher than that have been given as well.

I am basically offering myself as an experiement, to see if I notice a "marked" improvement. People on here try taking 0.5mg every other day (I think THAT is a waste, of TIME), so why not see it the other way around ?

We can put my start date as May 20th or so. I will provide updates.

I could be wrong but I think that is why they said 1mg a day, because any more of a dosage would not be any more effective.

Give it a shot though and let us know.

Coinsedently, I am starting on 1.25mg of proscar every other day instead of 1mg of Propecia everyday. I, as well will keep you update.

This is repeated all the time, read the whole thread, this is not true!

2mg of finasteride inhibits more DHT than 1mg of finasteride
