Hi guys. I'm a norwood 3. Dr. Alvari has given me a quote. He recommends 3290 grafts for zones 1 and 2 (the hairline and mid-scalp zone) at high density. This includes complete hairline design. I get the cancellation rate at $4/graft and minus $500 for travel expense cause i'm coming from overseas. So the total will be $12,660 US. Does this sound about right to you guys? I've heard Alvari is a bit aggressive but very good at what he does. BUT, Is it ok to get that many grafts in one session? Has anyone done so much before? Does the price sound right? Thanks so much.

That many grafts are routine these days. They are generally not all placed up front on a Norwood-3. But that is Armani's style. The price sounds right.

Some would argue that putting that many grafts up front is not wise, because it uses up many of the finite donar grafts. How old are you? What Norwood are you likely headed for? Have you halted your current hair loss with drugs? What are your long term plans for your hair loss?

Armani has produced some fantastic results. So I'm not going to argue either way.

Wait a minute - I just re-read your post. Are you talking about Dr. Alvi Armani? I skimmed by your post so fast, I assumed you were. If not, who is Alvari?

Really? That's odd. Coincidence or strategic planning based on available resources (techs)?

Wow. Thats exactly same estimate. As for me, i am almost Norwood 3. I am 26 and oddly enough nobody in my family has balding. Not my parents, grandparents, greatgrandparents. BUT one of my dads uncle is somewhat bald. So i dont think i will get much worse... "knock on wood." I'm sorta the odd one in the family i guess... either that or maybe i was adopted i dunno. haha. But man, its pretty pricey...

sounds like a good deal. I'm hesitant to do more than 30 per cm2 in one session, and to get FUE, but I've heard he is pretty good, so I'm not going to talk anyone out of it. I'm a big fan of strip procedures, though I would be affraid to take 3000+ grafts out at once. Smaller procedures are just less painful. But at least you get it done at once. Get on finasteride, though. You just don't know if you will get worse or not, and finasteride is very cheap and will maintain your hair. Regrowth is very hard.

I think Armani is a very good surgeon, but is a risk because he is so aggressive...if your hairloss is aggressive with meds and u go to armani ur screwed imo...then again some other more "conservative" surgeons u wont look as good but u dont run the risk of looking like a freak 5-10 yrs down the road

i htown. I had a look at ur photos and yeah our hair loss is pretty close. Mine is quite a bit worse up front though. I dont have much hairloss in the back yet "knock on wood." I'd do this in a heartbeat but its pretty darn expensive and thats why i'm taking forever to decide. I just asked them if i can go with a less agressive graft count first, which will be more affordable... and maybe if i needed, in a year or two, i'll go and get the finishing touches. In response they gave me a quote as follows: mainly focus on temple angle closure and hairline refinement. The number of grafts required to do so is 2560, and the rate for your procedure would decrease to $9,700 USD, plus tax. What do you guys think?

I think you're doing the right thing by being a little more conservative

Can you post some current pictures of yourself?

How old are you? Are you on meds?

These questions are very imp in deciding how aggressive or whether to get a hair transplant at all

He recommended 3290 for me as well. What does this mean? it doesn't seem very personalized.

Sounds fishy to me...i guess we need to see him in person before he can give us a "real" estimate

BTW I found out he does FUE and BHTs now but charges friggin $12/graft!! :freaked2:
