Going For The Second Time To A Dermatologist - What To Ask?

I am well documented about male pattern baldness and the only solution I’ve got left is Finasteride or hair transplant. I’m 24 and probably NW2.5. The last time I went to a dermatologist, she kept telling about alopecia and how and why it does what it does, something I already knew, then prescribed me minoxidil and Alpecin lol. So I guess I’m gonna have to ask for Finasteride directly this time around? Doctors here where I live are a bit lazy, they take the money and don’t care for the rest. So how should I approach the matter?

Btw is it better to have some blood tests before hoping on finasteride?
Thanks.

My dermatologist recommended me to eat avocados to regrow my hair ...

You have to straight up ask for it, and demand it and emphasise the mental effects hair loss is having on you. I would also mention that minoxidil creates dependant hairs, so it's just masking the issue. I'm not sure why they would prescribe you Alpecin when that literally does nothing.

I'm hoping to get prescribed Spironolactone, the doctor is currently checking if Spironolactone is licensed to be prescribed for hair loss so I will get the verdict soon (I will also be asking for Estradiol). If it's not licensed, it can be considered as an 'off-label' use in which I can trial it for a certain period of time to see if I do get results. If he says no, I will threaten to castrate myself at home using a knife and I will hang my self (it is a bit extreme but you have to use emotional manipulation tactics to get across with these doctors). So, another piece of advice would be to try to think of a way to emotionally manipulate your dermatologist.

Did you use the emotional manipulation tactics? You should have mentioned 'I am well aware of the side effects, and the side effects are the least of my worries. I would rather defeat the severe depression hair loss gives me, as that is the main priority for me. Leaving me to just use minoxidil, in which only creates dependant hairs, is going to make situations worse - I would rather not have to apply a topical for the rest of my life.'
