Getting The Lace At My Hairline To Stick Down.

So far, I've been wearing hair for a month, and it's exceeded my expectations in every way. It's an easy way to make a big difference.

At any rate, I've been using Walker No-Shine tape as recommended here; but I never put my tape too close to the perimeter, so hair doesn't get stuck down.

Consequently, the outer edge of my lace often flips up when I do things, like push my hair back.

I use Got2B Glue right now in the front as a temporary solution. It holds for the day, leaves no mess.

I was considering ordering Ghostbond, or some other well-regarded toupee glue, but I don't want the mess...It seems so hard to remove that junk after taking off the piece.

I've seen "mini" tapes advertised but I can't tell how small they are.

Considering just getting a roll of tape, so I can cut small pieces for my hairline.

What do you guys think?

Hi Cotton

My feeling is that ordinary hairpiece tape is too thick and visible for your hairline unless it is always out of sight (and actually it's hard to see how that could ever be true no matter what hairstyle you have). There is only one exception that I have found, and it is Walkers 3-mil tape. It is not tape in the usual sense, but semi-solid glue sold in a tape format. Once you remove the backing paper there is only glue left - no plastic film. You can get a decent undetectable hairline with 3-mil - not quite as good as glue, but very passable, and a lot less mess.

I am not understanding what you mean about

"At any rate, I've been using Walker No-Shine tape as recommended here; but I never put my tape too close to the perimeter, so hair doesn't get stuck down.

The contour tape is meant to be placed exactly to the edge the lace at the hairline.

And the perimeter tape also needs to be placed EXACTLY at the edge of the lace, all around, no gaps.

The "minis" are about 1/2 inch and are not meant for an exposed hairline, because they are not continuous... and you will have a line where they join.

@Noah , are you referring to their Lace Front, Thin?

I got another French Lace coming in & I want the hairline to stay down.

Whenever I use tape, that doesn't happen.

I don't put the tape close enough to the edge, but I think I will now.

If I put most of the on the lace, and only get a little on the hair, I could spray down some alcohol, and get it right - positioning, hairs - we over.

I just don't know if I should venture into glue.

I've been using various tapes since I started and light them, except that I can't do my hairline neatly

DON'T spray alcohol. It won't slide like on your head.

If you are doing this free-hand it's likely to be a problem.

I put my system on a canvas wig head, attached by a clamp to a work table (yeah, I do this a lot, so it's worth the investment). You can just get a foam wig head. I use a lighted magnifier that also clamps to the same work table.

I get the tape SPOT on the edge, every time.

Good luck, just take your time.

Got a french, colored & cut from Lord. Let's see how it looks.

Biggest problem I have w this unit is the hairline - it looks so fake.

I use Esha Absolute for hairline if I want stronger hold. Esha is kind of like between Got2b and Ghostbond. It's easy to clean up like Got2B but much stronger hold andless messy compared to Ghostbond and Walker Ultra Hold. Esha is easy to clean up too.

Sounds like a plan!
