Where and how does one attain them? Through your Doctor? Online? What's the best/cheapest way? Thinking of Propecia or proscar...

Where does one get proscar? That's the one that you divide into 5ths correct? What does it equal out to a month $? Which site should I get it from? I've heard it was near impossible to divide them...

If one stops taking proscar or anything similar do they lose all benefits they got from it?

You can get proscar on an ordinary prescription from your doctor, but not propecia. Pharmacists sell pill cutters, a box with a funnel and blade which chops the pill roughly into quarters much easier than fifths. That is the nub of the problem with proscar. Maybe one day propecia will be licensed for hairloss like proscar. The minoxidil etc. we all have to pay for. Good luck.

So there's no going back once I start eh? I'm 19...that's a long time coming.

Should I go through my doctor just an online prescription site? Which one do you guys suggest?

You can stop if you want to. You just need to know that you will most likely lose all hair that you have kept/grown from the meds once you stop.

I think you should go through your doctor. In case something doesnt work out it is nice to have consulted him on things. But you can still get a prescription from him and order online as far as I know.
good luck

there is a difference that should be stated though.
if you stop minoxidil you'll lose all hair you gained from it very fast
stop propecia and the balding process just starts where it stopped, ie you start to lose your hair at the speed you were losing it before.

this is what i thought was generally accepted. please correct me if you disagree

That's correct, I don't disagree.

I tend to disagree. I believe that when stopping propecia you wont necessarily lose all the gains you've made, but you WILL have a huge increase in 5alpha reductase as well as increased androgen receptor sensitivity. So I believe you will lose hair rather rapidly at first when you come off finasteride.
But I cant say that I have scientific backing for it. And I dont know if there is any, so I might be wrong.

How bad is it to start messing with my hormones at such a young age?

What if I just use Minoxidil 5% twice daily? That's just a store-bought spray correct?

Any other methods besides proscar and propecia?

You could buy minoxidil from the store (depends which country your from)/ pharmacy/ online.
Yes you apply it twice a day.
Propecia is a safe drug, its approved by the FDA. dont get the wrong idea about it (just my opinion)
