I never watched Seinfeld but this guy is constantly referred to when discussing bald guys. He seems to be held up as the stereotypical bald guy.

What was his character like? Was he a total loser? Did he go on and on about his lack of hair?

He seems to have had a negative impact on bald guys.

Guys like Tony Soprano and Frasier are good examples of regular looking bald guys. They're not Vin Diesel, Bruce Willis or Jason Statham, but they're successful characters who easily pick up women.

I used to think Costanza was a highly exaggerated character when it came to baldness but browsing hair loss forums I can see he's quite faithful to the life of a baldie.

He's the best representation of a high Norwood. There's a great episode where he wears a wig, you just have to see it! Curb with Larry David also dips on the subject, after all Costanza was based on him.

in real life I would have advised him to buzz that horseshoe to at least a 1 if not 0 like Stanley Tucci who looks good.

He's got hair transplant and looks quite good (better) now....much younger in fact.

Yes, he was an archetypal middle aged "loser" sort of character. Frumpy, neurotic, unsuccessful both professionally and personally, still lived at home, short, fat, etc. But likeable and hilarious, too - a huge part of the show.

The baldness thing was featured heavily in several episodes, most notably (for me) was the episode where Elaine (main female character) is dating a guy who is bald by choice (shaves it). Elaine thinks it's hot in how bold it is to shave one's head when he COULD be wearing a full head of hair, but sees a picture of him with hair and asks him to grow it out. When he grows his hair he finds out he is actually balding for real, and Elaine ends up dumping him as a result. (Hope you all see the irony...) The guy seeks Costanza's advice as a balding guru. "You make is sound like life is over now." "in many ways - it is." - laugh track roar...

Anyhow, this isn't meant to get you down, just a description of the show for the younger guys who didn't see it, since you asked. One of the main themes of the show was the SHALLOWNESS of the characters. Btw, George was always either having casual sex, in a serious relationship, or on the prowl so to speak, in pretty much every episode. In one episode he gets fired for having sex on his desk with a cleaning lady.

Best sitcom ever. Normally I can't stand a show with a laugh track.

Yeah George is also a good example though of how a bald guy can still just go living as normal even though in a few episodes we do see he would prefer hair as im sure anyone would.
