genetic question

Before i go on i'd like to apologize, english isn't my first language but i hope you will understand what i'm trying to ask.

i have trouble understanding what determines how early the onset of male pattern baldness will be. My father started balding in his 20's and was pretty much bald by the time he was 30, yet his younger brother who's 45 now is only a Norwood 2,5. I've read that the onset and severity of male pattern baldness is genetically predetermined then why is my father much balder than his brother? Both are biological brothers, both share the same genes, yet my father suffered from much earlier onset of hair loss. Aren't they supposed to be equally as bald? What are the factors that determine this?

Even though they're brothers, I guess they don't share the EXACT same genetics.
I'm not a scientist, but I've seen alot of bald guys with brothers who have thick full hair.
My dad's hair started going in his early thirties and now at 55 he's about an NW5, while his brother was an NW6 at mid/late twenties (he's now pretty much an NW7)

My mom's father developed a mature hairline quite early and it's pretty much stayed the same ever since, maybe with slightly more recession, and he's 85.

I sure hope I got his genes, still too early to tell.

They're brothers not identical twins! Are they both exactly the same height? Do they both have identical features in every other way? Genetics is a lottery, your uncle got lucky. With a strong history of m.p.b in the family then its very likely it will be passed on but there is still a slim chance that a sperm/egg not carrying (or carrying to a lesser degree) the m.p.b genetics will be the one that gets fertilized.
All sperms and eggs are not identical thats the random chance of nature.
