I just recieved my finasteride in the mail and am very worried about starting to take it. When I ordered it, the website site said it was Propecia, so I bought it thinking that somehow another country could sell it without a prescription. When i got the mail, I got a large envelope with 12 aluminum strips that pills usually come in, rubber banded together with no box. Then I saw that the it wasn't propecia, but generic name FINCOM-1, manufactured by Unisule in India.

So I went online to do some research on fincom and nothing. The only thing I saw was Unisule's website with very little info.

So I am holding off until I can get some good feedback on the drug or company, if I ever do, and if not I guess I will do what I was trying to avoid doing in the first place and go to the doctors to get a prescription for the real stuff.

Any help would be appreciated, I really want to get started with finasteride, but this is stalling me.

If the website mis-sold your product you should have a go at them anyway! I see what you mean about Fincom-1, I've not heard of it before, I don't see it being anything other than legit though, they seem to make a variety of generics and seeing as they package it with all the medical warnings, expiry dates + batch numbers and so on.. I don't think theres any money in making fake finasteride as I believe it's pretty cheap to manufacture. Perhaps they have just not been shipping internationally before, they have Indian and Japanese offices, maybe they were formerly targeted at the Japanese market.

Saying this I think I would be unsure in your shoes, I ordered a Cipla brand as they are relatively well known.

Yes, you are right SuperMeh.
Fincom-1 was fromerly targeted to Japanese market.
Indeed, Cipla was very well known pharmaceutical company to Japanese generic prescription users.
And Finpecia was the most reliable and popular finasteride tablets from India.
However, "Quinoline Yellow WS in Finpecia" had been a big issue among Cipla brand user for long time.
All the sudden(I recall it was last winter???), many Japanese online pharmacy start selling Fincom-1 and saying that Fincom-1 is safe finasteride tablet without tar pigments; Quinoline Yellow WS which is considered as risk factors for cancer.
And they linked to Japanese version of this Analysis report.
http://www.unisule.com/en/products/fincom.html
So, we liked it!!
No melamine, no Quinoline Yellow WS, and very open informations.
Fincom-1 was what we Japanese were waiting for.
