General Inquiry

Hey I'm new here, started losing my hair at 22 and now I'm a 26 yo Norwood 3. Had no idea a forum like this existed, I just have a few questions.

1. What is the Big 3 I keep reading about?

2. Does Rogain/Minoxidil and Finesteride actually work or is it just a money grab? (I'm familiar with mechanisms of actions so no need for that)

3. Approximately how long does it take to start working, or does it depend on the individual?

4. Do you have to take them for the rest of your life?

5. Can anybody give me a general idea of cost and dosage? Just so I know how long a supply will last when I buy it.

I'm intersted in starting on something if it can help. Thanks in advance.

If you are losing hair at that age, then best thing is to first go to a doctor and get yourself referred to a skin doctor (forgot what they are called) to see if you have hormone imbalances or other issues that could be causing it.

Whilst you wait for the results, improve your diet, avoid sugar rich foods (as they tend to increase hair falling at a higher rate in people suffering from hair loss).

And the big three - well, I think they mean Minoxidil Finasteride and another thing (I dont take them so I dont know) - people on this forum swear by it, I personally won't recommend it at all tho as I don't believe the pharmaceutical companies have our best interest.

I wont buy anything unless you start fixing all your life patterns which could be causing it - from everything you do in life, time you spent exercising, what you eat etc. Many people here will tell you its genetics, but genetics is exactly what your life patterns are (to an extent) and they can be changed to a level where you don't have to yet lose your hair now - most people hate me saying this, as they don't want to understand anything other than pharmaceutical is right, hence the negative rating I seem to have on this forum.

1. Nizoral 2% shampoo, rogaine/minoxodil, and Finasteride/Propecia 2. Yes, finasteride is more effective than minoxidil and they work very well in combo. 3. 3 months to a year 4. Yes if you want to keep your hair 5. if you buy proscar (finasteride) online and split it into fourths it is a full dose of finasteride and will cost slightly under a dollar a day, minoxidil will cost like 40 cents a day, the big three in combo if you buy the right products will cost you less then a dollar and a half a day. Something to note is dutasteride is 20% better than finasteride at maintaining/regrowing hair and costs about the same, so if you desire regrowth you might want to replace finasteride in the big three with dutasteride. If you are standard male pattern baldness just receding with no general thinning areas (relatively defined line between your hair and your temples) you will not see any regrowth so finasteride 1.25mg is probably the best as it will likely maintain your current state for years. minoxidil/dutasteride cant really do any additional benefits for you

everything zzzzz says up top is on point but if your getting Proscar, then you might as well just get Fincar. They are both 5mg Finasteride pills (as he said you would have to split them into fourths) but (although I can't say from where because of the rules) if you do so research on the most popular online pharmacies.. you can see that you can get literally get 3x the amount of Fincar for less than just 1x the amount of Proscar. Just a little tip.
