Funny thing that finasteride is doing for my hair

Hey guys, I've been taking finasteride 1.25mg and using nizoral twice weekly for about 6 months now, and something that I noticed is that my temple is creeping inwards towards my eyebrows on both sides (where the sideburns begin) with new weaker hair sprouting up, and my hairline is also moving down slowly with new hair is funny areas forming something that looks like |¯¯¯v¯¯v¯|... So I'm not too worried about my temple and hairline anymore (never was, really)

However, I'm unsure as to whether or not any progress has been made at my crown, which is what I'm most worried about; I have mostly weak hairs there that if thickened, I will no longer have visible male pattern baldness. The consensus seems to be that the temple is harder to regrow than hairline; given that I've "grown" new hairs at my hairline and only need to thicken up existing hair on my crown

I wanted to get your opinion on whether or not you think recovery at the temple will translate into success in the crown area.

Interesting. In my case, it was the opposite: the crown was never a problem, only the hairline.

you could assume that since hairs are growing at the hairline

that your crown should improve with time

cheers

Did you start losing your crown before your hairline?

If your hairline hadn't been thinning for long then that might be the reason you're getting it back.

Be patient with your crown. As Dazzerler said, if the front is improving then the crown will too. It actually probably has improved slightly even though you can't tell yet. And remember, 6 months is still early.

@Joker:

Actually, I'm a diffuse thinner and my hairline was really good; at least I thought so; though I have a slightly longer (and rounder) forehead. The hairline was never a problem for me. But I've noticed that I'm probably following my dad's pattern in that his hairline became skewed and uneven as he aged. His right temple did just better than his left and I think the same might happen to me. What might be happening is that some portion of my hairline that I didn't notice I lost is coming back slowly so it appears jagged. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

Oh I forgot. I'm thinning in a NW3v pattern; so basically an area of thin wispy hair about 3in diameter centered about half an inch to the left of the center of my crown, but strangely enough not a perfect circle, in fact the... NE quadrant (viewing from top) is actually really good hair so only 3 quadrants are thin.

Yah I'm monitoring the situation carefully. It seems that I might've actually gained some ground on my crown when I wasn't noticing. My swirl is slightly to the right of my crown and just 2 weeks ago when I checked my thinning area included the swirl; now it appears that the thinning area had been reduced so the swirl is barely in the thinning area. I hope that means that it's starting to pick up. I'd be ecstatic if that's what's happening.

But definitely going to keep an eye out... I'm also thinking I should add minoxidil for regrowth, but I think I'm allergic to PPG and have slight heart palpitations while on it... But I used to use it after I shower and my scalp would still be wet just so I get maximum penetration. I guess I could try a xandrox-type formulation with PPG on dry scalp...

Suggestions?
