frontal hair loss after switching from 15% minoxidil to 5%

I recently switched from 15% minoxidil to 5% and I'm experiencing a lot of shedding again. I was using 15% for 3 months and the shedding stopped after about a month. It seemed to help recover some hair on the top of my head and my hairline. After switching to the 5% shedding started again and the hair in the front of my head is looking worse than ever... Has anyone had this same experience or have had something similar happen? I want the hair on the front of my head to look like it did a month ago!!!!

I would look at it like this, going from 15% to 5%, might be the same as going form 5% to 2% or 5% to nothing. Your basically reducing the active agent to combat DHT attack.

Some people need a higher dose of minoxidil to get the same benefits/results of someone taking the 5%, and other people take the 2% and there heart is about to jump out of their chest. Genetics.

The 5% barely affected my loss, the 15% is causing new regrowth and hardly no loss.

You had your winning combination and switched it to a lower dose. Either money or side effects? Bottom line, you now know what works for you. stick with it.

You could try applying the 5% 3 times throughout the day. That way you would essentially be getting 15%. I know some people have done that and said it helped.

Minoxidil have nothing to do with DHT. It's a growth stim and not an antiandrogen.

I have used the 5% minoxidil for years, it worked till 2-3 years ago. Now I have changed to 15% since 16/6, I guess my hairloss drops a bit, it is still too early to say if it will stop the loss, and regrowth a bit. Since minoxidil is dose dependent, so I guess it can be worse off from 15% minoxidil to 5%, it is just my wild guess!
