is it normal for a 48 year old male to start loosing in a short span of time? It’s dramatically different in the last 2 weeks! And it’s increasing speed!!! Please help and tell me there is nothing I can really do for my husband bc I’m freaking out! I made an appointment for his PCP to check his blood but that’s not for another month!!!!! I can’t stop crying!!!

Try to relax - worrying won't make anything better. Assuming there is no new stress in his life, I would assume male pattern baldness. Try to book an appointment with a dermatologist who specializes in hair ASAP. They can run tests, predict future balding with hair bulk anakysis and miniaturization study, and help with a prescription of drugs. Hair transplants are always an option too. He will live and can get over this, I promise. He's fortunate he got to wait until 48 to have to start worrying about this anyway. Good luck

I am not an expert by the way. He might have some form of sickness causing this as well if it's so rapid.

Thanks, Crimsonglass.

He has long hair and has been pulling it back in a pony tail since he was in his 20’s. He has been thinning I’d say for the last 5-10 years but it’s been SO slow, almost unnoticeable unless you compared pictures.

For the last 2 weeks, I’ve been brushing his hair and barely running a brush through and hairs come out! It’s ridiculously fast!

Thank you, I will call our insurance tomorrow and see if we need a referral.

Thank you thank you!

Btw, his genetics from his father also are there, you are right about being lucky thus far. - his younger brother started seeing his hairline receding in his early 30’s, late 20’s! So genetics are not exactly on my hubby’s side!

With my husband it’s more male pattern baldness so you only really see a difference if you are standing over him at a desk or something - both views from front and back look ok, not much receding hairline.
