I went to my dermatologist recently in order to get a prescription for propecia. She recommended a product called Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner and said that it had regrowth potential equivalent to that of Minoxodil. Quite simply, that is a lie. Nioxin is a good shampoo and works well as a hair thickening agent, however, it in no way promote regrowth. I just though people should hear this before they fork out some dough (Nioxin is seriously expensive for a shampoo) and end up with no results. It was equally bad that a dermatologist said this because they are often though of as experts in the field that thus well trusted. Stick to the BIG 3 and you will see the best results.

Most doctors are seriously stupid, dont keep up on their job or research new techniques, but yet have a god complex and will get pissed if you suggest something or point to some research you discovered.

yes.. sadly the majority of dermatoligists know very little about treating hairloss. If you spent half a day reading through this forum, you would know more then most derms.

I unfortunately made the mistake of accepting my hair stylist's suggestion of Nioxin a few years back. She made it sound like it would take care of my thinning problem. Needless to say, I am now on the Big 3 and wish I had better information earlier.
