Well finasteride gets to the root of the problem (*cough* yeah, bad pun intended) and tries to prevent further hairloss, whereas minoxidil just offsets your hairloss with new hair. But you shouldn't really compare them as they do entirely different jobs and complement each other very well. If I had to use just one though, it would be finasteride.

Yes.. it's a silly question really but I voted for finasteride simply because it is the foundations of a strong regimen.
