Studies in women indicate that the action of topical flutamide is mostly due to systemic absorbtion. This is not a drug that males want to use systemically for pattern hair loss.

E.g., in addition to it antiandrogenic side-effects, when used to treat prostate cancer, Flutamide elicits such strong reflex hyperandrogenicity that you have to castrate the patient to limit testosterone production. This may be acceptible to treat prostate cancer, but is probably not for pattern hair loss.

I never had any sides or issues with flutamide when i was on the 1% gel solution and had some cracking results for my temples!

The only place that does flutamide now is in an alcohol base and its from genhair and I have been on it for nearly 6 months now and its been useless. I've had no side effects but no results either!

i dont think the reflex hyperandrogenicity would occur w/ topical administration even if there is systematic absorption, bc the dose would be very low compared to the dose for prostate cancer

I agree, there is a great deal of scare mongering associated with this type of treatment

Okay, but what makes you think that such a low dose would even WORK for hairloss?

i've used it myself and it has stopped my temple recession, which no other topical could do. mind you though it was only 1%
