Hello friends,

Last night was the first time I've used minoxidil. No burning in the scalp at all though the sh*t ran down my face a bit. I'm sure I got it on the scalp though should I rub it in after? Also how long should one wait before combing or brushing their hair? I waited about 10 minutes, brushed it and it looked pretty good.

There should be a forum at the top of this index for "tips on miox application." Do you fellas use the sprayer or the dabber? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm wondering why everyone is concerned about the drying, can you not put a ball cap on right after apllying the minoxidil, or within a few minutes

? Have a good weekend lads.

Much of what you are asking depends on hair thickness.

I used to use the spray but that was because I was trying to fill out my temples who where in fact not even on the norwood scale.

Then about 4 weeks ago I noticed that I´m a diffuse thinner and since I have hair I can´t spray it onto my scalp I use a syringe with no needle.

This way I can drop it straight onto the scalp and then just use my fingertips to press down the liquid for about 10 - 15 seconds/applied area.

This works for me then no showers/training for 4 hours to let it sink in.

Thanks for the reply, if my scalp is not buring does that mean the minoxidil is not doing it's trick?

Hi guys, another question. My hair looks dry after using the minoxidil, anthing you guys use after apllying the minoxidil to counter this? I did wash with nizoral before using and will use it 3x a week.

I'm a diffuse thinner and I apply the minoxidil in rows starting at the back then let it trickle down to the front then I gently rub it in. I do this until the whole top of my head has received some minoxidil.

I'm just starting my sixth month of minoxidil and it has never given me a burning sensation or irritated my scalp. Just a little dandruff which the nizoral helps with. From what I've read, if irritation is going to occur it usually happens after using minoxidil for a couple of weeks.

I wait about 1/2 hour after applying minoxidil then I blow dry. If I don't blow dry it, it looks greasy.

I use the dauber..really don't like it but I guess it works.

I would wait until the stuff dries before putting a hat on, especially if it rubs against where you just applied the the minoxidil.

That is supposed to be a very bad idea (if it is on the HOT setting).

I read an artical on this a few months ago. I will try to find it for you.

EDIT: Ok that link is dead, I remember it saying you can scorch your scalp and mess with the absorption of the Minoxidil.

Cassin,

I never use the hot setting. Usually either cold or medium heat. I've been doing this since I started minoxidil about six months ago without any problems.

JC,

I've had plenty of success on the big three but really cant say which has been the biggest contributor. I comb right after I apply minoxidil. Just try to comb hair, not scalp.

Thanks BHD, when ya getting on stage again? There is a local guy here who did pretty good, his name is Kim Mitchell, always had long hair. Bald as an Eagle now, he still performs.
