Is Finpecia the real deal?

I'm from the UK and want to start finasteride to stop more of my hair loss. After finding this drug, it appears too good to be true - price wise anyway. After googling it, there are a few posts on other forums that question its validity. However I don't know if this is just a typical post from a buyer worried after purchasing this generic brand of finasteride.

Therefore if someone could advise me that would be brilliant as I want to order as soon as possible.

Cheers guys.

My doctor will not prescribe generic propecia.

The site you recommend in that post is a site I've look at. It's expensive and sells the finpecia that another online shop sells the same generic brand for much cheaper. Therefore do you recommend buying them cheap, or playing safe and getting from the aforementioned prescription site? Also could you recommend a decent cutter? because If I choose that route I'll go for the 5mg option, although I don't like the idea of loose bits of pill being around.

what is the other site?

This is the kind of BS you get from GPs who know nothing about male pattern baldness. Is the doctor aware that generic is exactly the same thing as Propecia and you will be cutting the pill up and that millions of other men do the same? have you thought about asking to see a different doctor? I believe it's your right to ask to see an alternative GP if you want to.

Yes it's the same nonsense. The doctor actually told me to "just accept it... it's something that happens" which identifies the stigma that surrounds balding and men's mental well-being. The other site is Inhouse pharmacy, although this is much cheaper I want to know it's real stuff and also it says it gets taxed VAT upon import to UK which makes me wonder if it's really cheaper. Do you have a method/pill cutter you could recommend to cut the pill into 5 pieces?

Overseas pharmacy sites are a bit risky I guess, but many people use them - they probably sell legit meds, but the one I recommended is run by a British doctor, it's not a pharmacy site. Ultimately, you'll have to decide for yourself.

the ability to obtain a prescription for generic Finasteride in this country seems to be entirely dependent on the personality of the doctor you happen to have - it's completely pot luck. Crazy, but that's the way it is.

You could ask to be referred to a hair specialist doctor and you might have more luck.

any type of pill cutter will do

I used the inhousepharmacy finpecia 1mg stuff for over 6 months and it did the job perfectly well, as far as I know inhouse is one of the most trusted sites online, you'd surely have to be pretty unlucky to order fake stuff from there.

Was a bit on the pricey side though, a month's worth of finasteride cost me £13 each time because if i ordered any more than that I would've had to pay vat on top.

If you're going to ask a gp for a private prescription make sure you know your stuff when it comes to finasteride side effects, they will positively try and dissuade you from taking the drug and if they can see you don't know much about the long term risks they won't prescribe it to you....

My GP was all like "finasteride is a risky drug etc etc... did you know finasteride has been linked to breast cancer in the long run?? etc etc" for the first 10 minutes, it didn't seem like he was going to to give me a prescription, but then when I demonstrated my knowledge to him and explained i'd been taking it already for 6 months, he grudgingly agreed and was basically like " you do realise this is pure vanity, and hairloss is purely a cosmetic problem, so you're taking a big risk for something that is purely cosmetic etc etc".... and I thought to myself "that easy for you to say because you're a mid40s male with still a virtual full head of hair!" lol, but i didn't backchat him though, if I'd gave him any lip or disputed his advice there's no way he would have given me the meds, so i just nodded along with it, that's what you have to do i'm afraid, lol/

strange he should say that, considering the deep depression that balding can cause, and yet these doctors have no qualms about dishing out anti-depressants even though they are known to have a far higher risk of side effects than Finasteride (including erectile dysfunction)
