Finpecia.. yay or nay?

Considering starting propecia as my hairloss becomes more evident. Very poor right now, so I'm considering starting with finpecia. Don't really want to go to a Doctor and have this in my chart (I'm a med student and fellow med students may see...)

A secondary question would be, if you used it and it WORKED where did you purchase from?

1. Theoretically it should be identical to propecia.
2. You are a medical student and in a few years time you are going to prescribe medicine to patients. Why do you ask a bunch of amateurs like us? You should be making up your own mind.

Anyway, I took it for a year before getting a prescription for 5 mg finasteride and there's been absolutely no difference in effectiveness. I bought it from 4 different sites: Inhouse, United, Popular-chemist (no longer exists) and Evo-pharmacy(no longer exists)

And yes, I realize that I should know more about pharmacology, but you learn surprisingly little of it first year. Particularly elective drugs for hair loss :mrgreen:

Experience has been nothing but positive. Good results.

Visiting a hair transplant Doctor who is a graduate from my school. Not interested in a hair transplant, but am going to have him discuss my medically-sound options with me. I want to see if a Doctor would write a script for my current level of hairloss. To me, it's very obvious.

This way, I know I'm not being psychotic.

I have taken the 5mg Cipla Finasteride generic, works great

I get my Finpecia from hairpharmacy.com, which is part of United Pharmacy. Works fine, I regrew hair.

Took it for about 2 years with little to no success. Went to see a genuine Pharmacist about three months ago and have had significant noticable results in that time.

See if you can get a script for Generic Proscar from your Doctor and it'll cost you next to nothing.

You say you're embarrassed having a note in your medical records but wouldn't you be more embarrassed to lose all your hair?

Theoretically, even if Finpecia was 100% legit and unquestionably identical to Propecia, about 15% of users would still choose "it didn't work" because of the efficacy rates of finasteride itself.

True enough but it doesn't matter if it's Propecia, Finpecia, Proscar etc. The only thing you need to be sure of is that it's genuine which is very difficult when buying online from an unlicenced source.

It matters with regard to the intent of the original poster. Also, since the OP is trying to make a purchasing decision about Finpecia I think it would be important to have a correct assessment of the poll numbers.

Ended up going with Merck Propecia to start off with... I think I'll just pay for propecia until Merck's patent runs out in 3.5 yrs. At least I'm taking it as the FDA approved... Being safe is worth the premium, imo.

hmm good question. i noticed reasonable results when i was using 1/4 proscar, which then leveled off after a while. i think i've maintained since switching to finpecia, but can't be 100%.
i just got sick of having to cut my proscar every 4 days and leave the other 1/4s exposed during that time
