Finpecia vs. Propecia

Howdy all. This is my first post here.
I'm 38 and have been thinning for years.
I've recently switched from Propecia to Finpecia.
I know it's the generic equivalent but I notice a lot
of it comes from India and without a prescription.
My question is how do you know
you're getting what you pay for ? Is one site better than
any other to order from ? Anyone else using finasteride and how
is it working for you ??
Thanx for any help. You'll see me here more frequently.

re:

There is absolutely no direct evidence that the generic Indian finasteride is legit. That being said, most people on this site report positive results from the generics and the producer (typically Cipla) is a huge drug company who would be taking a big risk if they were producing inferior products.
For me, I use proscar because I am 100% sure I am getting what I pay for.

Thanx for the reply. It still boggles me that
you can get it without a prescription.
I eat right, excersize and take lots of vtamins
including MSM and Saw Palmetto. I've been on Propecia
for the last 18 months with some results. Just not enough
for me to justify the cost. That's why I went generic.
With the money I save I can use Minoxidil & Finsteride.

You can get proscar and propecia without a perscription too, from most online pharmacies.

I also order fincar, but once i convince my derm to give me proscar prescriptions i will go for it, its cheaper(insurance) and definately valid.

Proscar costs me about $100 a year, why not get a script? If you put a gun to my head, I would say the generic stuff is legit, but why take the chance. Either way, good luck.
India is an emerging economy and the drug industry has yet to be regulated. It has been a bold and successful economic move as Cipla has grown, but eventually there will be regulations in place.

I would not talk to derms about the script, just talk to your primary care physician. Tell them the pill splitting is a common practice. If he seems weary, tell him that you want to give it a shot for 30 days and then get a full script once you report to him that things are fine. Assuming you have done your research on a particular treatment, you should have more say on the direction of your health then your doctor.

I'd love to be able to use Proscar and
have my insurance help cover costs. I'm
just not exactly sure how to approach my physician
and say "Hey, I really want this prescription even
though it's only for hair growth."
Next time I'm there (maybe earlier) I'll give it a shot.
Thanx for the words of encouragement. I'll use up
the 100 pills of finasteride that I have coming and take it from there.

Check out my thread. I had the exact same worries about asking my Doctor for something that wasn't for treating hairloss. You know what? Everything turned out great and he was very helpful and understanding.

I propogated this "worst case scenario" in my head and reality was much nicer.
