Finesteride dosage question...

Hey I'm Geiri, new here :)

I have a question. My doctor subscribed to me Finesteride which I can get really cheap. The subscription is made like I would be taking 5 mg a day so I have the option of taking more than 1/4 of a pill a day (1.25 mg).

Has anyone here had more success by taking a higher dosage than 1 / 1.25 mg? Could I gain from maybe taking half a pill or would it be completely pointless?

I've been on 1.25 mg for 5 months and I don't see any difference. My Doctor said it could take 6-12 months though. Then of course there is the factor that it could be slowing it down even if it doesn't go back.

no taking more than 1.25mg per day is pointless

this is correct

if you don't see any difference that is a good thing. finasteride is far better at stopping further loss than regrowth. However those who do see regrowth typically see it between the 6-12 month point

I'm doing fine on 0.625mg every other day.
why this low-dose? I mean, we had that graph that show even between 1 mg and 5 mg difference is very very little.
So why qre people taking these ridiculous low doses, who may not give the best effects?

It works in any case, it doesn't matter if it regrows or keeps a couple of hairs less per square inch over the years.

I caught it fairly early, so the terminal hairs should stay that way as long as I take some finasteride regularly.

Kind of surprising that you don't take the full 1mg daily dose considering that you strongly believe in the safety of finasteride.

I do believe it's fairly safe. But 'safe' is subjective.

For example, I do not believe it causes any life threatening side effects, which makes it safer than 99% of the legal drugs available.

As for the mental and sexual side effects, they do exist with varying degrees. Some people might not feel the effect and carry on normally, while others could feel it more powerfully as their life quality takes a dip.

My erections were affected no doubt. I can still get it up no problem, but I can lose it more easily if there isn't constant stimulation, in addition to lower penile blood pressure from being a little less thicker and hard than I remember. Libido is still the same, ejaculation is more watery, less concentrated, and less forceful. But that was rather expected, so I'm not surprised nor worried.

But that's not the reason I'm doing intermittent dosing, it just works for me and there is no reason to change anything as of yet. I'm still happy to keep my hair, and the insignificant cons definitely do not outweigh the huge pros.

No intention of hijacking your thread....but I started taking 0.25mg of finasteride every day back in Jan. of this year. After a few months, I upped my dosage to .5mg every day.
Would you recommend taking 1mg every day now?

I haven't really noticed any side effects besides weaker erections. I can live with that.

Thank you!
