Fine hairs and thick hairs on the same scalp

Today I didn't wash my hair so my scalp could get a rest. I normally shed a few more hairs when i dont wash my hair. Anyway, i was just gently pulling the hairs in the middle of my scalp to see what the club hairs would look like. I think my hair shaft type if lke a medium to fine. Anyway, some of the hairs looked rather course and dark yet some of the others were much thinner. They were both generally the same legnth.

I have always noticed my scalp hairs vary tremendously in courseness. Some look very thick while others are very fine.

Has anyone else noticed this?

By the way, i'm not thinning in these area or that i Know of anyway. I hope this isnt something bad :(

Ive noticed the same thing. I wonder if non-male pattern baldness guys have the same occurrence?

Yeah that happens to me sometimes. I can pull out thick healthy hairs, and also thin- dead ones.

guys that's male pattern baldness!! thick hairs fall out, thinner hairs grow in it's place... those fall out.. even thinnner hairs grow in THEIR place... eventually the follicle dies.

so yes. it'd be pretty common for a balding guy to have this occur

Come on man, of course you will find thick hair and fine hair falling.... If your minoxidil or finasteride you are taking is working, it will make new hair to come alive. The new hair will be thin at first, and yes they will eventually fall. Then they will be replaced with thicker ones an so on an on. You will also loose some thick hair (like a normal person would). Those thick hair will be replaced with the same size or bigger ones.
Right now for an example, i am applying some minoxidil on my hair line, and yes it is working , i can see lots of fine hair, maybe one inch long. These hairs are not as thick as the other terminal hair that i have but i am sure once these fine hair fall (because they will) They will be replaced by thicker ones. Its a long process.

the only place i have loss is my temples.

My crown and rest of my head are fine.

The hairs are strong and not showing any signs of baldness.

Im just saying its interesting that there are both course hairs and fine hairs on the same scalp.

Im pretty sure im not balding in these areas because if i was then the majority of the hairs would be of the thin type.

I have even noticed hairs of thin and thick type on the back and sides. We know male pattern baldness does not effect these areas.

bubka mentions that we have general thinning all over before we loose in a pattern way and i concur.
unless you post a pic of someone with pattern loss and extremely thick hair in non receeding areas, i'm gonna assume this is the common case.

i have one question though, why does the reversal of thinning happen in stages? are there studies that confirm this?
i thought folicles resize at each cantagen->anagen? will it not resize fully at that stage if it is to reverse?......i really hope you are right on this because mine didnt come back terminal also, just intermediate.

hoping,hoping,hoping..
