Finding it hard to fall in love

Hello guys,

i just wanted to talk about my experience with dutasteride and finasteride (i take 1 mg dutasteride and 5mg finasteride a day) with regards to these "higher" emotional feelings- feelings of being in love etc. Ive been on this regimen for about 3 months and ive not had any bad sheds, but i have noticed a significant decrease in libido (which i dont really mind) and weaker erections, but thats expected and i can live with it.

Whats interesting is, i used to really like this girl before i started the therapy. i was seriously in love with her. now, i dont even wanna talk to her. i avoid her calls etc. i dont really feel that boy-girl adolescent attraction anymore? im only 18, im supposed to wanna screw anything that dares to move!

i think this something that i cdould have seen coming, but ive not read about it anywhere on the forums.

anybody have a similiar experience?

Changes are due to the finasteride.

When you body's chemistry is altered significantly, it can cause all kinds of nasty side effects. To me, the tradeoff isn't worth it - that's why I dropped the SP and won't go on finasteride. But then again, I'm older so I have a different perspective than you do, youngster. :)

i had a similar experience, though i think mine was psychological. I was totally into this girl, and then when i thought she was into me, i just didn't care anymore. (male pattern baldness had kicked in and i was really down about it)

when i started thinking about it later, i think it was this whole transitive property thing. She liked ME, and I hated ME. So I think that maybe subconsciously I felt I couldn't respect someone who thought I was great, when I hated ME. if that makes any sense. Such weird psychological effects that take hold when male pattern baldness enters your life.

could have just been a side effect of propecia though :)

I have experienced a falling out with girls throughout my life as you have described. The beginning times with a girl are different as compared to when you get serious. Both are great feelings but the initial excitement sometimes goes away. Usually after I get a girl I really want and then sleep with her and she falls for me, I get bored. It happens. It doesn't mean you are *ucking gay like jaygtyj says, it is just part of how it is. When you find the right person, it will be completely different.

Another possibility is that male pattern baldness has humbled you a bit, and you don't feel like the attractive, confident guy you used to before you faced hair loss. This has made me feel less attractive, and I sort of can't feel that "magic" anymore with girls the way I used to. I just automatically assume they don't find me attractive.

Fucked up, huh? =)

I think it's just the hormones playing a part here. The combination of losing hair, finasteride and the other stuff could get on top of you a bit. Or maybe just maybe, you really just got bored and it's a coincidence.

All are possible.

You are confusing love with sexual attraction.

First you say that you've felt a decrease in libido, and that you don't mind, and then you say that you "dont really feel that boy-girl adolescent attraction anymore? im only 18, im supposed to wanna screw anything that dares to move!"

That's not love, that's based on your libido.

Do yourself a favour and stop treating these drugs like smarties. Pick one and stay on it...i seriously doubt taking both at the same time will help more than otherwise would be the case. Hairloss, unfortunately is not that logical.
