I know exactly what you’re going through believe me. When I started Propecia 8 years ago I didn’t even know that shedding exist tbh, but when I look at the pictures my hair was really bad. Especially at 3 month mark. It came back much much better. And yeah, I also love to go to the gym but seeing my hairline got destroyed in the mirror takes all my motivation. It sux man.

We need to ride it out. I just promised to myself to no f*** around with other treatments until 1 year passes. If my hairline gets destroyed even further I will probably add RU58841 because my theory is while DHT decreases, your testosterone increases in the scalp and if your more sensitive to testo, it can probably damage your hair pretty badly. I don’t know, we’ll see.

But yeah I’m pretty much in the same situation. My hairline looks like a hydrogen bomb have exploided, not much life there. And I have a very thin blonde hair so it looks much worse tbh. You have a very thick strong hair, no homo

Yea' I guess in that case I'm luckier then you due to having naturally thick hair. Even the barbers or the Dr's tell me your lucky you have thick hair otherwise it would be more obvious.

Ok so you have actually been on it very long, your saying 8 years...

I'm just 6 months.

Yes I think we have to ride it out, just so hard coz it's like watching it go on weekly basis. I don't lift my hair up anymore so I don't see it but now with the sun coming out slowly, sometimes it shows it up even when done.

I've even tried to google if there are London Hairdressers that specialize in haircuts for mens' hair loss.

Not much else to do except ride out and be positive. I saw some positive comments on here people saying they exprience same thing and they saw improvement at 7 month mark or 11 so that helps a bit.

I am currently taking Finasteride once every other day for over 5 months and can't stay its halted my hairloss or regrown anything sadly.

I stopped taking it daily because i felt like it sped up my hairloss and gave me an itch which i couldn't help but assume might not be a good sign.

My hair has looked noticeably much thicker these days but i can't tell whether its down to finasteride (every other day) or whether its the thickening shampoo and Spectral.DNC products i am using.

So you think minoxidil is killing your hair? I’ve always felt since I started min my hair has taken a hit. However it doesn’t make sense that min could hurt it right!? Ugh I want to stop but don’t want to risk a shed

Minoxidil can be very unkind with its sheds. If you shed a lot from Minoxidil the good news is it will probably help in the long run.

If you have been using Minoxidil that long with absolutely no benefit then I would give it up.

The longer I’ve spent doing research the more I am reading about ‘slow’ or ‘late responders.’ Sounds like a bit of a long shot but while it may not yet show any benefits if it is not doing any visible harm (irritation, redness, breakouts etc) I feel there really isn’t a reason to drop it yet. It’s cheap. He is already in the routine. It’s not as common and it is a long time to wait but there are plenty of reports of those who start seeing results at the year mark.

While I do agree with you that time is of the essence it’s proven that a multifaceted approach is the best fight. You shouldn’t risk quitting a treatment to early even if you can’t depend on it solving the problem alone. With minoxidil being the best growth stimulant instead of quitting before the year mark you may want to address another issue. If you’re on finasteride check your dht and consider duta, look into a topical AA etc.

I would be stacking different treatments with different modes of action until my hair loss was solved. At which point you can experiment with tapering down on anything you suspect may not be helping. This is to avoid dropping any treatments prematurely and therefor missing out on the possibility of their benefits.
