Finasteride

Hi all,

After much research and asking about I think I'm going to start using Finasteride (I've never used any hair loss products before). Finasteride appeals to me as it doesn't seem from what I've read to cause initial shedding, which scares me, yet seems to do the job. Am I okay to just use Finasteride and get results?

Yes, you can get results from using finasteride!

Basically whether its okay to use on its own for positive results or with other things? Risks? etc.

Your regimen section seems to imply that you have lost a lot of hair. I would definitely get on Propecia. It is your choice whether you want to include Rogaine. You could wait it out 6+ months to see if you are satisfied with the results from Propecia alone. It is completely safe to use both of them together and it's your best bet if you want to regain lost ground. Also, it wouldn't hurt to use Nizoral shampoo 3x a week. We call those three medication "The big 3."

I've actually not lost a lot of hair, but have thinned out a bit on the crown. Any advice for this or should I just proceed with what youve said. As youve probably seen from my earlier post, I couldnt cope with the initial shedding. Thats what appealed me to Finasteride.

You could potentially be fine with just using finasteride. I personally don't believe that shedding is all that common with minoxidil, and it is a good thing. The hairs that you shed are already in the resting phase, it just helps them get to the growing phase quicker, and they will grow healthier and thicker. Finasteride might only help you maintain what you already have, so if you want to regrow, I would use both... and nizoral shampoo.

Biking doesn't cause hair loss lol
