After having been in denial for a while, I have finally drawn the conclusion that I suffer from DPA (Diffuse Patterned Alopecia). It has been going on for almost ten years now (I'm 27 now), but is progressing very slowly (figures, after ten years I still have hair). However, the last one or two years my hair loss seems to have accelerated a bit. I have already seen a transplant surgeon, but he told me he can't help me yet because I still have a great many miniaturized hairs that might shock loss, effectivively nullifying the transplant result.
So medication it is. Having finally recognized my problem, I intend to attack it with all I've got. My first step is obviously to get started on finasteride, to keep what I have and hopefully regrow some of those miniaturized hairs.
Which brings me to my main question: has anybody here booked some success in attacking DPA with finasteride?
