Finasteride vs. Dutasteride

I got on finasteride this time last year, took it for about 6 months and then quit about a month after noticing sexual side effects. I'm a newbie to the forum so I read the sticky post for new members (http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interac...r-hair-and-what-you-should-do-READ-THIS-FIRST!) and I saw the OP mention that for most people the sexual side effects resolved itself within 3 months. That has me second guessing my decision to get off the medication. Is that really the case or was I right to run away at the first signs of the much-reported main side effect?

My second question is that I've seen Dutasteride mentioned in a few posts. If I experienced side effects with the finasteride would I likely be facing the same problems with dutasteride?

I had sexual sides when I first started finasteride (low libido, erectile dysfunction), and also experienced pain in my testes and penis. The sides gradually started fading after about four months, and were pretty much completely gone after six or seven months. I switched to dutasteride about 3 months ago, and the sexual sides have never come back. For the majority of users, the side effects lessen with time. It takes the body a while to get used to your DHT levels being reduced, but when your body adjusts to it, you can expect that the side-effects will lessen. To answer your second question, dutasteride inhibits DHT more potently than finasteride does, and so you can expect that side effects will be more severe with dutasteride than finasteride. It makes absolutely no sense to believe that sides would actually be less with dutasteride.

listen,
want a piece of advise from an experienced, educated drug user -

best way to go with drugs long term,
besides making sure you can afford them long term, and all the other enchalada around it,
than - you start slowly -
you take the suggested dose, but instead of ED, you start with twice a week,
two weeks later you go for 3 times a week, and a week later you go 4,
two weeks later you go 5,
1-2 week/s later 6
and 1-2 week/s later you go ED.

doing this will lower the risk for sides -a lot .

if you still get sides you should slowly decrease your dose again and see how it goes basically.

key points are -
*be in a good physical and mental shape,
*eat well and on schedules
*treat every other medical situation if you have,
*if sides wont go - a change in your daily routine might help,
*sides are really not that bad, at least in this case - comparing the results you might gain,
*sides go away always, or you die, - basically these are just symptoms you get and you either gonna get used to them, or they will take over you - go worse - and who knows, but that like 1 in a bilion...

I got some side again after using finasteride , even with 0.5mg , but I recoup that with using Zinc 30mg everyday and also multivitamin supplement , Zinc would increase libido significantly .
