Hi guys,

Just want to see the correlation between the male pattern baldness itch and success on finasteride whether success may be defined as -

1. hair stopped shedding/maintenance
2. regrowth.

So if you have been on finasteride for at least a reasonable time ie. 1 month+ please vote. Please only vote if you are entirely sure. Many people may claim that finasteride has increased their hair loss even though they have taken no baseline pictures to compare.

Thanks.

Not going to vote yet, as I've only been taking it for 4 days LOL. I would comment though my head has already stopped itching. What causes the head itch?

Well it is believed that the itch is from the accumulation of DHT at the follicle and starving the follicle of nutrients. My itch initially subsided but after about 6-8 weeks it has returned. not sure what to make of that.

I'm not voting since it has only been six months. I see regrowth but I went through a bad shed recently. Itching is significantly less frequent compared to not using any hairloss treatments. Scalp has been feeling very weird since starting treatments.

Your polls would be flawed from very scientific and objective view. Although, you said people should vote once they have used it for one month, but that is not enough time considering so many variables and variance among individuals. Polls results wouldn't be the same for someone using it for over two years and someone only two months.

Besides, I never had any itch to start with

I agree the poll isn't the best it could be. However, there have been numerous cases in which users have reduced or stopped their shedding after 1 month of finasteride usage. Hence why it would be deemed a success.

The poll was mainly intended to see whether people have had success (in any form) or no success. So, yes it would be the same outcome if someone saw results after 2 months, or two years.

Its funny how many stories there are about the itch being present with male pattern baldness yet medical professionals for hair loss agree that the itch is not related to male pattern baldness although maybe they are wrong? I have that itch also and think its related to DHT I just want to avoid propecia does not sound like good idea to me long term.

If you don't want to keep your hair, then its a bad idea to take.

i actually didnt understand the link between Finasteride and itching. Cuz,

1-Some says that Finasteride wont work just because you have itching scalp.
2-Some says that you have itching scalp because you have re-growth.

This is why, i didnt get this relationship, is harmful or beneficial?

For me, whenever there is excessive itching on my scalp, it signals hair loss. Also, when I have increased itching, I notice that my hair gets greasy very quickly.
