Would taking finasteride twice a day be better than just once? I'm trying to understand all I can about drugs to get best results and long term efficacy of my treatment. So I know you have to have a certain amount to reach maximum efficacy of finasteride which turns out to be about .75mg in most men to reach the full potential of 70% dht inhibition. Since the half life of finasteride is only 8 hours, after those 8 hours shouldn't you dose again? I'm taking 1.25mg a day and so I would lose effectiveness late in the day and dht would be elevated at night. Shouldn't another dosage to keep dht down help out?
I think the continual dht inhibition may have something to do with why Dutasteride even just once a week proves more effective than finasteride. dutasteride's half life is 6 weeks. My understanding is that this does not mean it stays in your body for 6 weeks as it is metabolized and excreted from the body and that is why you must continually dose, but just that the drug in a human body can remain in its active form for 6 weeks. Well if someone is scared of the side effects of dutasteride and responds well on the 70% inhibition of dht and doesn't need the higher 90% by dutasteride, wouldn't a second dose before bedtime be beneficial?
