Hi guys. My name is Ray. I'm new to these forums so bear with me.
My hairloss story starts back when I was 17 (2009). This was around the time I noticed that my temples were starting to recede. I thought it was normal because my dad's temples were also recedes except he was in his 40's. This was before I knew anything about pattern baldness whatsoever. My paternal side of the family all have their hair and a ton of it. However my maternal side literally no one has kept their hair including my uncles and grandfather. Fast forward 3 years mom starts to notice that I was loosing some hair in the crown area. She rubbed coconut oil on it every night but it had little to no effect. A year later when I turned 21 I started to notice an increase in hair loss and at that point I decided to contact Bosley for a free consultation. They put me on Finasteride. At that point in my life I wanted nothing to do with oral medications so I didn't use Finasteride religiously at all. A couple years later I eventually decided to make a habit to take it daily (2014) At the end of this year after not being satisfied with the results I decided to travel to India to get a hair transplant with 2500 grafts using the FUE method. They places the grafts mostly on the hairline and some in the back. I'm begging to think this was a bad idea because it's basically a NW1 hairline. Fast forward to the present it seems like my hair has been doing great on finasteride but this February I decided to switch to Dutasteride because I noticed my crown thinning a little bit. A doctor at Bosely precribed me generic Avodart .5mg and told me to consume it 3 times a week MWF. I started that in February with little to no shedding. However now (July) I am seeing a lot of sheddint in the mid-scalp region and i'm wondering if I should ride it out or switch back to Finasteride. I sort of went against what my doctor prescribed me these last 10 days and just took the Dutasteride daily in hopes of stopping the shed.
Do you guys have any suggestions regarding what I should do? Should I consult with my doctor again and she if they can actually prescribe me the Dutasteride daily? Or just switch back to Finasteride? Also I could just stay on the MWF routine but I fear the rapid loss of hair.

One more thing haha. When I was using Finasteride I had very little body hair. Ever since this switch to Dutasteride my body hair is thicker on my shoulders, pubic area and stomach and chest and there is more of it! Hair on forearms and legs and beard is unchanged.

dutasteride has a massive half life, stick to 1 dutasteride pill per week and keep up the finasteride every day.

I would but my doctor strictly prohibited me from "double dosing" she said just stick to the Dutasteride 3 times per week.

Taking 3 dutasteride pills per week when technically it should substantially lower your DHT for close to a month before it rises again makes no sense. 3 pills is a week isn't a standard dose, she doesn't know what she is talking about.

Not a great study, but there are many others. The nature of DHT inhibition from these drugs means a logical dosing would be finasteride every day and dutasteride once per week.

I took dutasteride ED for a year then switched over to finasteride. Because of the long half-life of dutasteride, it can be difficult to manage the amount inside your body compared to that of finasteride.

Did you see results on Dutasteride?

Yes I did, I believe after 1 year, my hair was in the best quality it had been since Baseline, I had more hair then when i started treatment. But overall, I decided to drop back to finasteride because I was scared of the long term effect of dutasteride. In the early months, I had quite bad brain fog and inability to focus.

Now I am on finasteride, I think my hair is still okay but I've recently starting trying different ways to regulate my hormones, using Ashwangandha and Melatonin.
